IT Network L3 Engineer

Reporting to the Global IT Network Manager, the IT Network L3 Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing gategroup’s local, wide area network, partner connect and wireless infrastructure. This position will act as technical Subject Matter Expert for the overall Network environment and any related topics. The ideal candidate will work closely with the entire IT Team, engineering and application teams and will serve as focal point for project related network designs, implementations and troubleshooting.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of networks including LAN, MAN, Wi-Fi, WAN, SASE & S2S VPN’s
• Design and implementation of a Zero Trust Network in a versatile and highly dynamic environment
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with gategroup’s Security Team
• Troubleshoot, resolve, and lead 3rd level networking issues with other SME’s
• Perform root cause analysis of critical outage and incidents
• Maximize network performance through ongoing monitoring, maintenance, capacity management and lifecycle management, ensure runbooks are up to date.
• Participate in global projects and act as Network stream lead
• Documenting new solutions and configurations, for handover to IT Operations
• Ensure compliance, compatibility, security, and optimized integration between solutions in our landscape
• Support the Infrastructure cloud team with cloud network solutions
• Contributor to disaster recovery planning and execution
• Maintain current knowledge and understanding of security and networking best practices to offer the best solutions and protection to gategroup’s digital footprint
• Design and drive gategroup’s network harmonization initiatives
• Support selection of new service, solutions, and vendors in network domain, oversee and manage an effective issue escalation and technical support required from network vendor.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology

Work Experience

• 5 years + working experience in a Network engineer role
• 7 years + in an IT infrastructure role
• Work experience in a large multinational, matrix structured company

Technical / Language Skills

• Expert knowledge of core routing and switching, network design principles, best practices, and related technologies
• Proven experience and success with LAN, WAN, and WLAN design and implementation
• Proven experience with network planning, network security principles
• Excellent English skills.
• Any other major European Language preferred, but not required.

Core Competencies Required

• Experience with Cloud network design (Microsoft Azure & AWS).
• Hands-on experience with technology from various vendors
• Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
• Experience in implementing and managing Zero trust networks desired
• Ability to work on in non-office hours on demand in case of high severity incident
• Understanding of key IT Infrastructure technologies and associated architectural considerations
