Project & Engineering Manager – North West England

About The Role

We are seeking a dynamic Project & Engineering Manager to join our national operations team, supporting major capital projects and continuous improvement initiatives across our Aggregates, Asphalt, Concrete, and Recycling business lines.

This is a pivotal role responsible for leading the initiation, planning, and execution of CapEx projects, ensuring alignment with Heidelberg Materials’ project management standards (CCA and CCR), and delivering operational excellence through CI (OpEx) initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Delivery: Lead CapEx and CI projects from feasibility to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest safety standards.
  • Health & Safety: Champion a safety-first culture, ensuring all projects meet Heidelberg Materials’ Health & Safety Plan.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Collaborate with Land & Planning to ensure environmental compliance and sustainability are embedded in every project.
  • CapEx Management: Prepare and submit CapEx proposals in partnership with project teams and business line leaders, ensuring Best Value Design.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain stakeholder management plans to ensure alignment and cooperation across central functions and business units.
  • Project Governance: Ensure projects are structured and reported in line with CCM and CCR guidelines, with clear objectives, budgets, and timelines.
  • Resource Planning: Build and manage project teams, ensuring adequate resourcing and development to meet delivery goals.
  • Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with statutory legislation and internal regulations.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in project and engineering management within industrial or construction sectors.
  • Strong understanding of CapEx processes, CI methodologies, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and sustainability.
