DG BOSS: Lead, Aircraft Load Planner I (FN)Job Summary:
- The Lead, Aircraft Load Planner I is responsible for supervising and coordinating all aspects of aircraft load planning and air cargo operations in accordance with AMCI 24-101 V11, Attachment 6. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant processing, loading, and unloading of cargo and mail while maximizing aircraft utilization. The incumbent leads and mentors shift personnel, oversees documentation and handling of general and hazardous cargo, ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, and maintains clear communication with Air Terminal key personnel and flight crews to support mission readiness and operational excellence.
Roles And Responsibilities:
- Perform all duties as Load Team Chief in compliance with AMCI 24-101 V11, Attachment 6.
- Supervise and provide direction to subordinate personnel on shift.
- Coordinate with Air Terminal key personnel regarding any cargo processing or operational issues.
- Plan, select, sequence, and monitor all cargo and mail loads; initiate and ensure accurate manifesting of all shipments.
- Process and manage special handling cargo in accordance with applicable foreign national regulations.
- Optimize aircraft utilization based on available airlift capacity and port backlogs.
- Receive, process, and categorize cargo and mail shipments; verify eligibility for airlift.
- Ensure all cargo is properly documented, packaged, labeled, and marked in compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Inspect hazardous materials for proper packaging, documentation, and labeling per transportation standards.
- Inspect and verify pallet and pallet train configurations for proper restraint and airworthiness.
- Monitor refrigeration units to ensure temperature compliance for temperature-sensitive materials.
- Operate and supervise the use of all assigned Material Handling Equipment (MHE).
- Meet all inbound aircraft, debrief Loadmasters, and assess inbound cargo and passenger information affecting outbound operations.
- Brief Loadmasters on tentative outbound loads, including hazardous and special handling cargo, and coordinate seat releases for passengers.
- Communicate departure times and seat releases with the Air Cargo and Passenger Service sections.
- Monitor and pre-plan outbound loads in accordance with transportation priorities.
- Conduct and document safety briefings for all shift personnel.
- Maintain knowledge of hazardous material compatibility and passenger deviation procedures as required by regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support operational requirements.
Basic Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Must complete overseas medical screening and maintain good health.
- Possess a valid driver’s license (manual and automatic transmission).
- Ability to operate and supervise MHE, ground-based, and aircraft cargo handling equipment.
- Demonstrated knowledge of aircraft load planning procedures and practices.
- Successful completion of the Airfield Operators Course.
- Proficient in relevant computer systems and applications (e.g., GATES, DBase, Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to train others in the preparation of Shippers’ Declarations for Dangerous Goods.
- Thorough understanding of all applicable publications, manuals, and regulatory guidance.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS: SPECIAL CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING
- Certified Air Cargo Hazardous Handler, Hazardous Material Inspector, and Aircraft Load Planner.
- Joint Inspector Certification
- Global Air Transportation Execution System (GATES)
- Air Transportation Web-Based Training (ATWBT)
- ADLS Quality Training Package (QTP)
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
- College degree (preferred)
Experience:
- Minimum of four (4) years of experience as a Shift Supervisor in aircraft load planning, loading/unloading operations, and MHE or ground/aircraft cargo equipment operations.
