Job Summary

The Carpenter Superintendent provides overall leadership and direction for carpentry and general building maintenance services. This role is responsible for planning, organizing, and supervising carpentry crews, tradesmen, and subcontractors to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with contract and quality standards. The Carpenter Superintendent plays a key role in resource planning, cost control, and ensuring adherence to U.S. Government, KBR, and host-nation regulations.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general physical building maintenance activities.
  • Develop organizational structures, schedules, and processes needed to execute carpentry services and associated trades effectively.
  • Ensure execution of carpentry services meets contractual requirements, design specifications, timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with project teams to identify key success factors, risks, and cost influence factors; recommend corrective actions.
  • Review and monitor man-hour budgets, productivity, and resource allocations; report deviations to senior leadership.
  • Maintain short- and long-range look-ahead plans and adjust schedules and resources as needed.
  • Oversee procurement of tools, equipment, and materials required for carpentry and building maintenance activities.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications; ensure work is executed accordingly.
  • Supervise and mentor General Foremen, foremen, and tradesmen; set performance expectations and provide coaching for improvement.
  • Conduct inspections of completed work to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Enforce safety programs, conduct regular briefings, and ensure adherence to all applicable safety standards.
  • Coordinate with logistics, materials, and other departments to support project execution.
  • Prepare and submit progress reports, status updates, and recommendations to project leadership.
  • Promote teamwork, employee morale, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 8–10 years of carpentry/construction experience, with at least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong technical knowledge of carpentry methods, tools, and construction practices.
  • Experience supervising multi-trade teams (carpentry, plumbing, painting, general maintenance).
  • Proven ability to manage cost, schedule, manpower planning, and subcontractor performance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of applicable safety standards and ability to enforce compliance.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Intermediate in English proficiency: Must be able to speak, read, and write in English at an Intermediate level.
  • Fluency in Romanian language and unrestricted right to work and reside in Romania.

Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)

  • Additional technical, vocational, or artisan qualifications in carpentry, construction, or building maintenance.
  • Prior supervisory experience in contingency operations or U.S. Government contracting (LOGCAP preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure with changing deadlines and multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail and a focus on quality.
