Job Summary
The Plumbing General Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising plumbing crews in the execution of construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of plumbing systems. This role ensures that plumbing services are carried out safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with design specifications, building codes, and quality standards. The General Foreman provides leadership, develops processes and resource plans, and supports the Superintendent in managing cost, performance, and subcontractor oversight.
Roles And Responsibilities
- Assist the Superintendent in identifying key success factors, risks, and planning requirements for plumbing operations.
- Provide leadership to plumbing crews, creating organizational structure and processes required for effective service execution.
- Oversee and direct daily plumbing activities, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to required quality and safety standards.
- Evaluate plumbing service execution for compliance with contracts, design data, building codes, safety regulations, and specifications.
- Maintain short-range look-ahead plans, review progress, and discuss deviations with the Superintendent.
- Review and monitor cost and man-hour budgets; develop and implement corrective actions when required.
- Develop equipment and tool requirement plans; review and adjust them with the Superintendent.
- Provide technical direction to foremen and plumbing staff, ensuring safe and efficient use of tools, equipment, and materials.
- Supervise the installation, service, and repair of plumbing systems including piping, fittings, fixtures, drainage, water heaters, and sanitary systems.
- Oversee testing, inspection, and quality control activities to ensure code compliance and functionality of plumbing systems.
- Interface with other trades, project managers, and subcontractors to coordinate activities and resolve issues.
- Enforce strict compliance with safety programs, including PPE use, toolbox talks, and hazard management.
- Mentor and train junior craftsmen, providing performance feedback and promoting skill development.
- Prepare and deliver status reports to project leadership regarding plumbing progress, risks, and corrective actions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- High School Diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in plumbing or construction preferred.
- Journeyman plumbing license, DD-214 with plumbing specialty, or equivalent certification required.
- Minimum of 5+ years of plumbing experience, with proven background in residential and commercial work.
- Minimum of 2 years of leadership, supervisory, or foreman experience.
- Strong knowledge of plumbing systems, installation methods, codes, and safety protocols.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, building plans, and plumbing specifications.
- Experience with water heaters, pop-off valves, relief valves, and heating elements related to water heaters.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide diverse teams effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license.
- Intermediate in English proficiency: Must be able to speak, read, and write in English at an Intermediate level.
- Fluency in Romanian language and unrestricted right to work and reside in Romania.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, and Certifications)
- Prior supervisory experience in a U.S. Government contracting or LOGCAP environment.
- Experience managing subcontracted plumbing services.
- Demonstrated ability to develop work breakdown structures, resource plans, and cost controls.
- Familiarity with both U.S. and European plumbing codes and systems.
