Job Responsibilities:

What you can expect

We are seeking a senior, hands-on engineer to lead the operation and optimization of our Linux server landscape across physical hardware, VMware, and public clouds (AWS, Alibaba, Azure). You will design and improve automation (Bash and Python), own complex troubleshooting (including GPU-enabled hosts and workloads), and raise our standards for reliability and security. Configuration management is centered on Puppet; Linux systems integrate with Active Directory via sssd. Docker is a must. You will join and mentor a globally distributed team.

What you can expect

  • Design, operate, and harden Linux servers (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL) on physical hardware and in VMware, AWS, and Azure
  • Own bare-metal lifecycle: provisioning, firmware/BIOS updates, RAID, IPMI/iDRAC/iLO, hardware diagnostics
  • Build and maintain automation and tooling in Bash and Python (provisioning helpers, compliance checks, health probes, monitoring integrations, cloud/API utilities
  • Advance Puppet-based configuration management (roles/profiles, modules, Hiera, r10k, Git workflows, code reviews)
  • Lead GPU operations and troubleshooting
  • Driver and kernel module management (e.g., NVIDIA, DKMS; proprietary vs nouveau), CUDA/cuDNN compatibility
  • Diagnostics and performance tuning with nvidia-smi/NVML, ECC/error analysis, PCIe health
  • GPU passthrough/vGPU on VMware ESXi; GPU-enabled instances in AWS and Azure
  • Containerized GPU workloads using Docker and the NVIDIA Container Toolkit
  • Maintain Linux-AD integration using sssd (Kerberos/LDAP, PAM/NSS, sudo policies)
  • Patching, lifecycle, and vulnerability remediation aligned with security best practices (SELinux/AppArmor, TLS)
  • Monitor system health and availability with Icinga; tune alerting, reduce noise, drive incident resolution and root cause analysis
  • Troubleshoot system, network, and storage issues (DNS, DHCP, routing, VLANs, firewalls; NFS/SMB)
  • Work with storage technologies including Fibre Channel SAN and S3 buckets (object storage)
  • Ensure dependable backup/restore and disaster recovery testing
  • Collaborate effectively across time zones; mentor teammates and champion operational standards
  • Participate in an on-call rotation

What You'Ll Bring

  • 5+ years operating Linux in production (Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL), including physical servers and virtualized/cloud environments
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere and with at least one public cloud (AWS or Azure; ideally both)
  • Advanced Bash and Python coding skills (reliable CLI tools, automation workflows, interacting with cloud SDKs/REST APIs, testing and versioning)
  • Production-grade Docker experience (image build/maintenance, registries, Compose, security best practices; GPU containers with NVIDIA toolkit)
  • Deep hands-on expertise with Puppet in an enterprise environment (roles/profiles, modules, Hiera, r10k, Git-based delivery)
  • Proven experience with GPU-equipped Linux systems (drivers, CUDA stack, performance tuning, passthrough/vGPU, and cloud GPU instances)
  • Practical experience with AD integration on Linux via sssd
  • Solid knowledge of networking and security fundamentals; comfortable with SELinux/AppArmor and certificate/TLS management
  • Experience operating Icinga for monitoring and alerting
  • Familiar with backup/restore processes and disaster recovery concepts
  • Clear communicator who documents effectively and works well in a distributed team

Nice To Have

  • Kubernetes exposure
  • Terraform or similar IaC for cloud infrastructure
  • CI/CD practices (GitLab CI/GitHub Actions), packaging (RPM/DEB), artifact management
  • RHEL ecosystem tools (Satellite/Foreman)
  • Relevant certifications (RHCE/LFCE, AWS/Azure Associate)

What We Offer

  • Flexible working hours and hybrid work
  • Health programs, sports and team events
  • An extensive training program and exciting internal development opportunities
  • Meal allowance
