Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) - Fergus Falls - 80 Hours Biweekly (69776)

The purpose of the MLT I position is to perform procedures in all sections of the laboratory. May be assigned special duties in addition to MLT and assume responsibility of a section when the supervisor is absent. Shifts may include days, PMs, and nights.

This position requires a trained, specialized individual who has the ability to work under stress in a variety of situations. The MLT I works closely with patients, the pathologist, office staff, physicians, nursing service, and other laboratory and hospital personnel. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential. The incumbent has access to sensitive, confidential information and must be able to maintain those confidences.

• Hourly Wage Range: $26.40 - $33.79 Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Shifts: PM shifts, 2:30pm to 10:00pm, 80 hours biweekly

1. 1. Education/Special Skills: An Associate of Science Degree from an approved school and appropriate internship under the direction of a pathologist in an approved laboratory. Must possess an appropriate HHS approved laboratory certification (i.e., ASCP or AMT).  Must maintain approved certification status.  Certification renewal must be verified as active 2 months from valid through date. Minimum of four years’ experience as staff MLT II. Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to use a computer. Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and train for new procedures as needed.

4. 4. Must be able to attend work site per schedule. Duties may require limited amount of non-scheduled overtime hours as work load requires.
