About Us – Fan Focused. Results Driven
At Gemba, we work at the intersection of sport, entertainment and culture, bringing strategy, data and analytics, insights and communications together to deliver results that matter.
Our name comes from the Japanese term gemba, meaning "the real place", which reflects our commitment to uncovering the truth at the heart of fan behaviour. Since 2006, we’ve built our reputation by understanding audiences deeply, helping our clients cut through the noise of an increasingly complex and competitive landscape.
We are proud to partner with major brands, rights holders and organisations to shape the future of sport and entertainment, whether driving commercial growth, increasing participation or creating meaningful engagement.
If you are passionate about fans, culture and creating impact, you’ll find your place at Gemba.
What You’Ll Do
If you’d been in this role over the past few months, you might have:
- Delivered a premium trackside hospitality experience for one of Australia’s biggest brands at the Spring Racing Carnival
- Led a multi-day fan activation at NRL Magic Round, from concept to on-ground execution
- Helped reimagine a major sponsorship experience at the Australian Open — transforming creative ideas into powerful, shareable moments for fans
Day-To-Day, You Will:
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of large-scale events and activations — from idea generation and creative development through to production and delivery
- Work closely with creative, production and client management teams to turn ideas into brilliant fan-first experiences
- Manage budgets, suppliers and logistics with precision, ensuring every project runs seamlessly
- Inspire and mentor your team to grow, innovate and deliver their best work
- Push boundaries in sustainability, design and experience innovation across every brief
About The Role
This senior role will see you take ownership of high-profile event projects from concept to delivery. You’ll lead and manage a team to deliver projects end to end — overseeing suppliers, vendors and budgets in excess of $500k, and ensuring every element runs seamlessly.
Collaboration is at the heart of what we do, so you’ll work closely with client management and creative teams to generate ideas, develop concepts and ensure activations align with strategy and creative direction. You’ll also help refine internal processes and workflows to drive efficiency across the Events team and broader business.
You’ll play a key role in mentoring team members, contributing to new business opportunities and embedding sustainable event practices across the business.
This isn’t your typical 8:30–5:30 role – weekend work and travel are part of the job, and we’re looking for someone who thrives in that environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, idea development and delivery of events and experiential activations
- Manage and mentor the Events team, ensuring efficient allocation of projects and workloads
- Oversee budgets, timelines, legal, compliance and supplier negotiations across projects
- Collaborate with creative and client management teams on concept development
- Ensure project plans, supplier briefs and internal workflows are reviewed, approved and clearly communicated across all stakeholders
- Drive innovation and best practice in event production, sustainability and experiential design while upholding compliance, safety and legal requirements
- Contribute to new business development, pitches and showcasing Gemba’s work
You’Ll Bring
- 6+ years in events and production, ideally agency-side in sport & entertainment
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Events, Activation or Production (preferred)
- Current Working with Children Check, Driver’s Licence and Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Experience managing direct reports and large-scale budgets ($500k+)
- Proven ability to negotiate with clients, suppliers and external partners
- A creative mindset that balances storytelling with flawless execution
- Strong project management skills, including process, timelines and financial tracking
- Excellent stakeholder management and vendor negotiation
- Proficiency in MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Teams and SharePoint
- Outstanding attention to detail, problem-solving ability and calmness under pressure
- Passion for sport, entertainment and delivering experiences that fans remember

- Flawless execution that delights clients and fans alike
- Trusted leadership and mentorship of your team, fostering growth and collaboration
- Strong, reliable supplier and client relationships built on trust and results
- Contribution to new business development and thought leadership in experiential marketing
- Embedding sustainability in event production and delivering innovative, fan-first experiences
