Position Overview

The AI/ML Engineering Intern will join the Software Department at SubCom LLC, a team focused on developing platforms for Network Management and Digitization. Reporting directly to the Director Software Development, the intern will support ongoing innovation in network management and digitization powered by AI and machine learning. The main objectives of this position are to contribute to the development, testing, and deployment of AI/ML solutions that enhance the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of SubCom’s network management and digitization platforms. 

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design, implementation, and evaluation of AI/ML models. 
  • Contribute to data collection, preprocessing, and feature engineering activities. 
  • Collaborate with software engineers and stakeholders to integrate AI/ML solutions into existing systems. 
  • Document project progress and communicate findings in a clear and professional manner. 
  • Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and brainstorming sessions. 
  • Explore emerging AI/ML technologies and suggest possible applications. 
  • Contribute to the creation of prototypes, technical demonstrations, or internal presentations. 

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Understanding of machine learning concepts, algorithms, and popular AI/ML frameworks (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, etc.).
  • Proficiency in programming languages relevant to AI/ML development (e.g. Python, C, Java). 
  • Familiarity with software development best practices, version control, and collaborative tools (e.g., Git). 
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with large datasets. 
  • Effective communication and documentation skills. 
  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field. 
  • Basic coursework or project experience in machine learning, data analysis, or software development. 
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment. 
  • Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to solve complex technical challenges. 
  • Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and technologies. 
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Proactive attitude and effective interpersonal communication.
