Plant DJ | Finishing Lead | Shift 6Position Overview
Position Objective:
- Identify, communicate, and advise on quality problems to ensure the line is operating effectively with all personnel on the line.
- Responsible for compounding latex to be used by the Coater to continue production flow.
- Must know the duties of all positions in the department.
Essential Duties:
- Startup/Shutdown the department when shift aligns with the schedule
- Organize and conduct a shift team stretch at the beginning of every shift
- Complete all quality checks (weight check, viscosity, cup weight, stretch test, velcro test)
- Report test results to the appropriate personnel
- Logging all test results and other specified information into the appropriate program.
- Communicate all quality problems to the shift supervisor
- Help organize and troubleshoot line problems
- Monitor compounder latex levels, and ensure that the line is running on the proper tank
- Monitor operation of the line from beginning (sew-on) to the end (wrap station)
- Ensure that the line is operating on spec.
- Pump compound from mixing tank to correct storage tank
- Keep froth head and filters clean at all times
- Maintain the froth machine and wash out all day tanks weekly to prevent build up on sides
- Record batch data on correct paperwork
- Communicate inventory levels with supervisor
- Help operate or fill in vacant positions
- Must be able to work as a team member
Non Essential Duties:
- General housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisor or plant management
Relief Supervisor Preferred
- Ability to work 2nd shift with minimal notice
- Assist/ lead improvement projects
Education And Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to perform basic math
- Experience in carpet manufacturing preferred
- Must be able to read a tape measure
Training Requirements:
- On the job training during normal work hours, with qualified COJT (certified on the job trainer)
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to frequently carry loads of 50 lbs. or more without assistance (Tools, buckets, etc.)
- Must be able to occasionally lift, push, pull loads over 100lbs (Turning Wrenches, moving hoses, totes, liquid)
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, grasp and reach frequently.
- Must be able to work in industrial environment with elevated noise levels, dust, dirt, humidity and temperature variations.
- Must participate in pre-shift stretching exercises.
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to communicate effectively with supervisors and associates.
- Must be able to work well under pressure with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be able to comply with all plant policies.
- Must be able to work in various situations and with management.
- Must be able to perform tasks quickly and safely.
Safety & Security Requirements:
- Always wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required for a task.
- Always be cautious of lift trucks traveling throughout the plants.
- Immediately report any and all quality, safety, or mechanical issues to the supervisor on duty.
- Hair must be worn above collar length.
- Keep all loose articles away from machinery.
- Practice general housekeeping and keep work areas clean.
- Always use proper lifting techniques.
- Report any injuries to your supervisor or nurse immediately.
- Observe all plant policies including but not limited to LOTO (Lock Out, Tag Out), cell phone, dress code, cutting policy, speed limit policy, and tobacco use policy
