Position Details:
The Drug and Alcohol Outpatient Counselor plays a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing comprehensive outpatient counseling services. This position focuses on assessing clients' needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions to promote recovery and prevent relapse. The counselor collaborates with healthcare professionals, families, and community resources to ensure a holistic approach to each client’s rehabilitation journey. Success in this role is measured by the counselor’s ability to engage clients effectively, foster a supportive environment, and help clients achieve sustainable sobriety and improved quality of life. The counselor will work primarily at the outpatient facility located at 7979 State Road-0522E, serving a diverse population with compassion and professionalism.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough assessments of clients’ substance use history, mental health status, and social factors to inform treatment planning.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address clients’ specific needs and goals.
- Facilitate individual and group counseling sessions using evidence-based therapeutic techniques.
- Monitor client progress regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary to optimize outcomes.
- Provide crisis intervention and support to clients experiencing relapse or other challenges.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical providers, social workers, and case managers, to coordinate comprehensive care.
- Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery strategies, and available community resources.
- Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in addiction counseling.

QualificationsThe ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related human services field.
- Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience providing counseling services to individuals with substance use disorders.
- Strong knowledge of addiction treatment modalities and recovery principles.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in counseling.
- Experience working in an outpatient treatment setting is preferred.
- Training in trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing techniques is preferred.
- Familiarity with co-occurring mental health disorders and integrated treatment approaches is preferred.
- Bilingual skills or experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
