About The Role
In this dynamic role, you’ll be at the forefront of implementing and securing SAP solutions that power our operations. You’ll work with cutting-edge platforms like S/4HANA, SAP HANA, SAP Solution Manager, and SAP Cloud technologies to ensure seamless, secure, and efficient system performance.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- System Administration and Maintenance:
- Install, configure, and maintain SAP systems, including SAP Solution Manager, SAP Landscape Management (SAP LAMA), S4,BTP, SAP Identity Management (SAP IDM), and SAP Enterprise Threat Detection (SAP ETD) and SAP HANA.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and apply patches and upgrades as needed.
- Ensure high availability and reliability of SAP systems.
- Support and use of non-SAP products like ARIS, SNOW, EPI-USE are part of the role.
Security and Authorization:
- Implement and maintain data and system security best practices.
- Stay informed about security patches and updates.
- Support regular security audits and address vulnerabilities.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g., ITIL).
- Monitor the usage of licenses with SNOW Optimizer for SAP
Backup and Recovery:
- Verify and maintain backup and recovery strategies for SAP databases and applications.
- Test and validate backup procedures to ensure data integrity.
- Performance Tuning and Optimization:
- Analyse system performance and identify bottlenecks.
- Optimize system parameters, memory usage, and database performance.
- Collaborate with other teams to enhance overall system performance.
- Change Management and Transport:
- Coordinate system transports (changes) across different SAP environments (development, testing, production).
- Ensure proper documentation and approval for transport requests.
- System Upgrades and Migrations:
- Execute SAP system upgrades and migrations.
- Collaborate with project teams to minimize downtime during upgrades.
Disaster Recovery Execution:
- Maintain disaster recovery procedures for SAP systems.
- Regularly test and validate the recovery process.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with functional teams, developers, and business users to understand requirements and provide technical support.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding system changes, upgrades, and incidents according to Sydney Water processes.
Documentation and Training:
- Create and update technical documentation related to SAP systems like OSG and TAD.
- Manage service request, change requests and incidents according ITIL
- Attend mandatory training and certifications.
Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure compliance with licensing agreements, security policies, and industry standards.
- Participate in audits and address any findings.
- Collaborate with all Digital teams and relevant frameworks to provide information on SAP services supporting, delivery, development, and continuous improvement of future foundation services.
- Work with external service providers and vendors in delivering the day-to-day secure operation, maintenance, management and monitoring of all SAP services, informing the TL/manager of any risks, issues and performance impacts.
- Managing a heavy workload with tight deadlines, competing commitments and priorities which require negotiating and continual re-prioritising of your work.
- Understanding the balance required of business-as-usual obligations and enablement/deployment of planned project work.
- Ensuring SAP services are maintained for Sydney Water’s data and services whilst not unnecessarily inhibiting end user experience.
- Be enthusiastic and positive for digital workload migrations to the cloud, transforming the way we work and uplifting the user experience.
- Ensure the availability and capacity of infrastructure and services in your remit is maintained within SLA, and any outages are resolved within SLA, across the team and prioritized accordingly.
What You Bring
- A degree in IT, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- SAP certifications (highly regarded).
- 8+ years of hands-on experience in SAP technology delivery and operations.
- Expertise in SAP On-Prem and Cloud environments.
- Experience with RedHat/Windows systems and SAP HANA/Oracle databases.
- Familiarity with SAP BTP, S4HANA, SAC, and Microsoft Azure.
- Strong understanding of foundational IT technologies and delivery operations.
