About the Water Quality Analyst role

In This role you will undertake sampling and laboratory tasks following simple instructions in accordance with procedures and under supervision to meet customer expectations and regulatory and operational requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Bottle preparation including washing and manual sterilisation, packing and discarding bottles - Deliver sample bottles to clients
  • Collect sample bottles from client premises
  • Deliver required samples to external labs
  • Arrange and deliver samples to SW Laboratory
  • Receive and label samples into the Laboratory information management system
  • Prepare samples for analysis (filtration, extraction or concentration)
  • Basic sample analysis (temperature, turbidity, colorimeter) using simple field or laboratory equipment
  • Report unusual results and issues immediately to a Team Leader or Manager
  • Undertake basic sampling in the field
  • Work cooperatively as part of a team
  • Work safely, undertake risk assessments and report hazards and incidents
  • Ensuring compliance with OHS Legislation
  • Accountable for the safety of their own workplace and work activities, participation in H&S training and activities, reporting all identified hazards and ensuring their activities do not cause injury to others
  • Provide personal leadership in your own safety attitudes and behaviours and engender a safety culture among your contractors and internal staff
  • Contribute to a high performing team culture and commitment to the improvement of safety, customer, health and environmental outcome 

About You

  • Relevant education or qualification (e.g. HSC, TAFE) or previous experience in a similar role
  • Awareness of safety requirements related to the role and ability to demonstrate personal responsibility for safety
  • A valid driver’s licence
  • Ability to follow instructions and complete tasks on time 
  • Well developed data entry skills
  • Basic ability to use computers and tablets and associated software, including Microsoft Windows and Office and various mobile devices 
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work within a team
