Ferguson Lodge is our specialised accommodation site located in Lidcombe, providing support for those with spinal cord injury since 1979. We offer community based accommodation with a high level of personal and clinical care for those who have higher level needs.

The Opportunity

We’re seeking an experienced Nurse Educator to lead the design and delivery of clinical education programs across our residential and community services. You'll work closely with our Clinical Team to embed evidence-based best practice and enhance care outcomes for our clients.

This role is Part time, working 3 days a week and based in both our head office in Newington and Ferguson Lodge in Lidcombe.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide training and educational support to all Registered Nurses and Personal Support Workers to ensure quality care standards
  • Assessment of team members using clinical competencies and assessment tools and identify performance improvements
  • Demonstrate leadership through role modelling to nursing and care staff
  • Provide clinical guidance to clients including assessment of all new clients to ensure care plans are clearly defined and consistent with Forward's procedures
  • Point of contact to Support Workers and Clients regarding concerns about care plans or services provided
  • Facilitate external consultants to provide specialised training and education opportunities
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and accreditation activities and processes

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) as a Registered Nurse
  • Strong clinical background in spinal cord injury or other associated neurological disabilities and/or general continence and/or rehabilitation nursing
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including a demonstrated ability to work effectively with people across all age groups, as well as from cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds
  • Experience in training, including a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
  • Experience is assessment of care quality standards
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willingness to obtain one
  • Valid Driver Licence
