The Quality, Safety and Training (QST) Manager will oversee and develop the AES Quality Control (QC), Safety, and Training programs and initiatives. S/He will work closely with the AES Quality Specialist, AMG HSEQ Department, SAFECOR, and AES Leaders in this effort to achieve best in class performance in these areas.

In Quality

  • Review, refine, and create the department’s QC procedures, checklists, and systems for the equipment manufactured at the AES facility and by our third-party vendors.
  • Assist with the Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at our third-party vendors when required.
  • Ensure our customer’s QC requirements are met.
  • Investigate performance gaps and manage corrective actions.
  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to track AES and vendor quality performance.
  • Ensure Airgas and regulatory compliance (e.g. for welding and brazing operations) when required.
  • Issue vendor non-conformance reports when required.
  • When required, assist the Quality Specialist to:
  • Perform and sign off on Quality Control checks on finished equipment.
  • Photograph equipment for marketing and shipping documentation.
  • Ensure Quality Control paperwork is complete and archived.
  • Solicit and receive Application Engineer or Segment Lead approval prior to equipment packaging and shipment.
  • Conduct and document “Lessons Learned” meetings when required, and ensure action items are addressed.
  • Train Engineering and Operations personnel on the QC process.
  • Stay abreast of the quality initiatives within Airgas as a whole and within industry.
  • Be a leader in Safety: promote a culture of Health and Safety excellence.
  • Perform and sign off on Quality Control checks on finished equipment.

  • Follow AMG’s OGSM plan (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measurements).
  • Identify critical activities and develop standard operating procedures and training programs to address them.
  • Issuance and support of AES Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Create and track (quarterly) Safety Improvement Plan (SIP).
  • Document Good Catches and Timeouts in Intelex System per policy.
  • Organize and document emergency drills per policy.
  • Ensure facility inspections are conducted per policy, with attention to:
  • Gas detection systems (inspection and calibration)
  • Fire Extinguishers

  • Fire & Emergency alarms
  • Emergency Lighting

  • Cylinder Storage

  • Housekeeping

  • Lead Safety Committee (AES Safety Council)
  • Organized and develop content for monthly team safety meeting
  • Document meetings per policy
  • Implement a rotational program to help keep team engaged 
  • Issue Hazardous Work Permits (HWP) when required.
  • Facilitate Management of Change (MOC) on facility or ALTEC equipment when required.
  • Support any internal or external compliance audits when required.
  • Follow AMG’s OGSM plan (Objectives, Goals, Strategies, Measurements).
  • Identify critical activities and develop standard operating procedures and training programs to address them.
  • Issuance and support of AES Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Education And/Or Experience

  • Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering discipline – Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience in the Industrial Gas industry.
  • Minimum of 10 years of demonstrated experience with managing industrial projects from cradle to grave, and understanding of the related challenges in the entire project life cycle.
  • Notably organized, and able to keep up with and individually manage multiple projects with multiple stakeholders, while working together with a team to achieve overall goals.
  • Highly skilled in project management tools/techniques, such as scope definition and changes, project scheduling, critical path, estimating, budgeting, reporting and cost control.
  • Familiar with applications equipment using compression, refrigeration, purification, instrumentation, electrical, and controls.
  • Experience with industrial gases and equipment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Google Suite applications (Google Docs, Google Slides and Google Sheets).
  • Some knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD preferred.
  • Demonstrates personal integrity and transparency.
  • Demonstrates ability to make sound judgment, timely decisions, manage multiple tasks and prioritize/delegate work effectively.
  • Familiar with applications equipment using compression, refrigeration, purification, instrumentation, electrical, and controls.

  • Working knowledge of ISA symbols as required for P&ID’s and site layout drawings.
  • Knowledge of codes and standards including: ISO 9001, OSHA, National Electrical Code, UL, NFPA, AWS, ASME, and CGA.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
