Overview: The SDS Country Lead plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and compliant communication of chemical
hazards, thereby protecting workers, consumers, and the environment. This position requires a strong understanding of chemical safety regulations and the ability to accurately assess and communicate hazards through well-prepared SDSs.
- Responsibilities:
- Develop and write comprehensive Safety Data Sheets for chemical products. Ensure that SDSs are accurate, complete, and compliant with relevant regulations and standards.
- Regularly update SDSs to reflect new information, regulatory changes, or product modifications.
- Actively participate in workflow and system development projects to maintain compliance with hazard communication regulations and related regulatory requirements pertaining to SDSs and labels.
- Follow documented work processes and offer continues improvement suggestions.
- Data Management and Troubleshooting:
- Provide timely reporting of issues that impact progress of requests, coordinate actions, and help business in troubleshooting process/data issues.
- Gather and analyze data from various sources, including scientific literature, test reports, and supplier information.
- Ensure the accuracy and reliability of the data used in SDS preparation.
- Maintain accurate records of all SDSs and related documentation.
- Assessments and Consultation:
- Monitoring within assigned projects per regulatory requirements, applicable departmental and company-wide SOPs, and project specific protocol compliance.
- Conduct risk assessments to evaluate the potential hazards of chemical substances and mixtures.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Stay informed about global and regional regulations related to chemical safety and SDS requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to internal teams and external stakeholders on SDS-related issues.
- Develop and conduct training programs on SDS preparation and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that SDSs are easily accessible to employees, customers, and regulatory authorities.
- Qualifications:
- Minimum of a BS degree in chemistry, biology, or a related scientific field (or equivalent experience), or a regulatory degree.
- Proficient in using MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint, with familiarity with database environments. SAP-EHS knowledge is a plus.
- Attention to detail with an emphasis on quality and organization.
- Ability to follow and apply defined work processes.
- Minimum 1-2 years of Regulatory or EHS Experience.
- Strong communication skills.
