Overview of the Opportunity 

KPMG’s Commercial Office supports Advisory client contracts from a critical business perspective.  This newly created Commercial Office is looking for a Contract Manager to join its team, reporting to a Assistant Manager or above.  The ideal candidate will be process-focused, with a strong aptitude for technology scoping and adoption with a particular focus on the integration of technology to streamline contracting-related processes, improve efficiencies and improve market insights.  Additionally, the candidate will be proficient in contract management, including drafting as supported by legal counsel, developing compliance processes, and working with cross-functional teams.

What you will do

  1. Statements of Work:
  2. Work with engagement partners to draft clear and detailed SOWs, consulting with KPMG’s Office of General Counsel on legal terms and/or unique circumstances as needed.
  3. Audit Support:
  • Facilitate meetings and discussions with stakeholders to gather input for SOWs.
  • Ensure that all SOWs adhere to company policies and industry standards.
  • Be able to work from both KPMG templates and client forms of agreement.
  • Identify risks and non-standard requirements and consult with internal subject matter experts to ensure contracts align with organizational policies and comply with commercial, legal, and industry standards.

  • Lead, as supported by the engagement team, the firm’s response to a client’s request for information under a contractual audit right.
  • Actively seek opportunities to improve the processes related to all aspects of the operation of the Commercial Office.
  • Stay informed of the latest technological advancements in contract management to propose innovative approaches and products to streamline processes.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and legal changes affecting contract management.

What you bring to the role

  • University degree in a related field.  
  • A proven track record of utilizing technology effectively in their previous roles and hands-on experience in using technological tools and systems within their job responsibilities.
  • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in contract management (in Canada or elsewhere).
  • Strong understanding of industry standards, market flexibility and experience with compliance (post execution);
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work concurrently with multiple stakeholders; and,
  • English language proficiency, with French language proficiency preferred.
