Organizational Setting
UTF/BRA/089/BRA
The project objective is to contribute to the national processes of strengthening family farmers in Brazil for poverty reduction and rural revitalization. The expected outcome is to implement differentiated policies and programs that improve the capacities of the national government, local and family farmers in areas such as ATER (rural extension and technical advisory services), Credit Programs, land access and governance, access to markets and the strengthening of cooperativism.
Reporting Lines
The incumbent reports to the Assistant to the Representative in FAO Brazil – Programme.
Technical Focus
Collect and qualify data on repossession processes affecting areas where consolidated communities of family farmers, quilombolas, and traditional peoples and communities are located.
Tasks And Responsibilities
- • Conduct literature review and desk research on land tenure, community organization, and conflict mediation practices.
- • Collect, organize, and systematize quantitative and qualitative data related to land use, family farming, and traditional communities.
- • Prepare spreadsheets and databases consolidating information on affected areas, communities, and institutional responses.
- • Draft technical reports analyzing patterns, trends, and lessons learned, including case studies and comparative analyses.
- • Develop methodological tools (data sheets, flowcharts, and manuals) to support monitoring and decision-making processes.
- • Produce a final manual with procedures, good practices, and recommendations to strengthen government and partner interventions in land-related conflicts.
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING:
Minimum Requirements
- • University degree in Human Sciences or Applied Social Sciences, according to the CAPES table of areas of knowledge.
- • Minimum experience of 08 (eight) years related to working with courts of justice and experience with Policies for Racial Equality and human rights.
- • Working knowledge of English or Spanish and fluency in Portuguese.
- • National of Brazil or resident of the country with valid work permit.
