The Online Communications Unit (OCU), the Manila-based branch of the IOM Department of Media and Communications (DMC), focuses on several key areas of work. These include bringing expertise and agility to manage the digital environment effectively, ensuring IOM's online presence is a strategic priority, maintaining consistency in online brand representation, guiding and empowering colleagues through web management training, and being dedicated to swift and effective responses to web- based demands, efficiently meeting various web-related needs.


This role reports directly to the National Website Content Management Officer of OCU. The successful candidate will lead content operations, translating IOM-DMC-OCU's strategic vision into the daily execution and production of all online content. This comes with supervisory role and he or she will also supervise the work of the Junior Web Assistants.

  1. Manage the day-to-day workflow for all website-related tasks, from content updates to new features releases. Break down strategic project plans provided by the Web Content - Management Officer into detailed, actionable tasks.
  2. Proactively identify and resolve potential roadblocks or delays in the production process, escalating major issues to the Web Content - Management Officer as needed.
  3. Directly perform website updates, including the hands-on implementation of content, images, and multimedia in the various IOM websites and digital platforms.
  4. Assign daily and weekly tasks to junior staff, including content uploads, image resizing, and link audits.
  5. Provide training and guidance to junior team members on production best practices and the use of the Content Management System (CMS).
  6. Act as the primary point of contact with stakeholders including project and department focal points, designers and developers.
  7. Oversee and conduct comprehensive quality assurance (QA) for all new content, features, and functionality to ensure the website remains accurate, relevant, and engaging for users.
  8. Oversee the direct implementation of web content within the CMS, ensuring proper formatting, metadata, and tagging for SEO and analytics.
  9. Provide first-level technical support to the production team, troubleshooting issues with the Content Management System (CMS) or content delivery.
  10. Maintain detailed project documentation, including timelines, task lists, and issue logs, to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the production process.

Education

  • Completed advanced university degree in Communications or Journalism with strong digital focus, Digital Media/Multimedia, Digital Marketing, Information technology with focus on front-end, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with minimum two (2) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Relevant professional certifications, and/or high-level bootcamp completion in a similar role (e.g., Senior Web Assistant, Front-End Developer, Digital Marketing, UX Research and Design, and Project Coordinator) is an advantage.

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

Experience

  • Candidate must possess at least two (2) years of direct, hands-on experience updating and managing content using Drupal Content Management System (CMS).
  • The role requires a minimum of two (2) years of proven experience supervising or directing the day-to-day tasks of junior production staff or website assistants.
  • The candidate must be able to translate business requirements into clear technical specifications for design, developers and content management teams.
  • A strong background is ideal in designing, executing, and documenting Quality Assurance (QA) testing for website features and content.

Skills

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to translate technical information between developers and non-technical content teams and vice versa.
  • Possess strong, working knowledge of HTML and CSS to efficiently diagnose front-end display errors and collaborate with developers to propose precise technical solutions.
  • Familiarity with Drupal and other digital asset management systems.
  • Proficient in designing and implementing Quality Assurance (QA) plans and protocols
