The Office of the Attorney General is a dynamic organization with over 4,000 employees throughout the State of Texas. Performs advanced (senior-level) telecommunications work for the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) Child Support (CS) Information Technology (IT) Division, IT Operations Network Team. Work involves Network designing installing, operating, diagnosing, and resolving voice, data, Fiber, wireless, and video telecommunications problems.

Oversees and/or performs the preventive maintenance on assigned telecommunication systems, associated software, and peripheral equipment. Oversees and/or performs the planning, scheduling, and implementation of a telecommunications & IP system.
Oversees and/or performs the Design, installation and maintenance of or installs and maintains telecommunications networks hardware. Oversees the communication with contractors and telephony companies used throughout the communication network regarding proper operation, installation, and maintenance of Voice Environment, IP phone equipment, and associated endpoints.
Provides input in the development of operational or administrative policies and procedures related to telephony & network systems. Evaluates our Telephony & IP system plans for completeness and accuracy.
Researches and determines budgetary requirements for telecommunications system. Conducts major studies regarding system usage, makes recommendations for improvements, and determines telecommunications system requirements.
Investigates and resolves problems concerning the operation of telecommunications systems, communications hardware, and equipment. Monitors the operation of voice, data, or video telecommunications equipment and network control consoles.
May provide guidance to others.

Maintains relevant knowledge necessary to perform essential job functions
Attends work regularly in compliance with agreed-upon work schedule. Telework schedules are permitted for employees based on the agency’s approved Telework Plan (if schedule does not adversely affect operations and service levels, and standard hours of operation are maintained). Telework schedules are set by the Departments based on business needs.
Ensures security and confidentiality of sensitive and/or protected information
Complies with all agency policies and procedures, including those pertaining to ethics and integrity
Qualifications
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent
Experience: Four years of full-time experience working in the following (or closely related) fields: Telecommunications, computer science, management information systems, network management, Contact Center, Collaboration or other IT-Voice related operational fields; may substitute credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Knowledge of data processing and telecommunications principles, equipment, procedures, terminology, standards, and wiring technologies; network operating systems; of the Federal Communications Commission’s policies and procedures; of the principles, practices, and techniques of telecommunications systems design; of computer operations, IP-Voice systems and procedures; of telecommunications software and protocols; and of problem-solving techniques.
Skill in the use of telecommunications test equipment, Networks, Fiber, computers and applicable software, and microcomputer or mainframe applications
Skill in handling multiple tasks, prioritizing, and meeting deadlines
Skill in effective oral and written communication
Skill in exercising sound judgment and effective decision making
Ability to plan, analyze, and implement telecommunications systems, to provide technical assistance in telecommunications systems, to review telecommunications system plans for completeness and accuracy, to communicate effectively, and to supervise the work of others.
Ability to install, operate, and test telecommunications equipment; to analyze, diagnose, and resolve telecommunications problems; to interpret technical information
Ability to receive and respond positively to constructive feedback
Ability to work cooperatively with others in a professional office environment
Ability to provide excellent customer service
Ability to work in person at assigned OAG work location, perform all assigned tasks at designated OAG workspace within OAG work location, and perform in-person work with coworkers (e.g., collaborating, training, mentoring) as required. Ability to work remotely as a manager-provided option, depending on work requirements and the needs of the OAG.
Ability to arrange for personal transportation for business-related travel
Ability to work more than 40 hours as needed and in compliance with the FLSA
Ability to lift and relocate 30 lbs.
Ability to travel (including overnight travel) up to 40%

Experience with state government systems
Experience with Texas Child Support Division
