We’re hiring a Senior Software Engineer to play a pivotal role in crafting the future of Australia Post’s retail point of sale system, reshaping the way people in post offices work across the country.  In this role, you will work as part of a team of engineers to support, operate, maintain, and develop new features.  Collaborating with Delivery Lead, Product Owner, Business Analysts, Architects, UI/UX Designers, Testers and other team members to ensure successful delivery of digital application products and services within the Australia Post Retail Network.


This is a great opportunity to get involved in developing a system that processes over a quarter of a billion transactions per annum.


What you’ll deliver with us 

  • Working within a delivery team to develop and maintain a Point of Sale (POS) system for the Australia Post retail network
  • Developing re-usable React components with Typescript, able to be used across other future company applications
  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code with integrated unit tests, adhering to best practices
  • Collaborate with designers and backend developers to deliver high-quality products
  • Working with internal team members and stakeholders to ensure success and quality
  • Working on troubleshooting and bug fixing and improving application performance
  • Ongoing support and coaching of junior developers

About You

You’re an experienced front-end engineer with advanced knowledge of modern development languages such as TypeScript, ReactJS, and Node. You’re comfortable working with CI/CD frameworks, ideally GitLab, and have hands-on experience designing and implementing APIs using REST and JSON. Familiarity with Electron will be highly regarded, as will your ability to quickly identify technical issues and communicate them clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset enable you to work effectively across teams, while your problem-solving abilities help you tackle challenges with confidence and creativity. If you’re passionate about building innovative, secure, and user-friendly applications, this role is for you.

  • Extensive experience working within a Technology function in a large, complex organisation with proven experience leading testing teams
  • Highly developed communication skills both written and oral
  • A natural curiosity to enhance coding capability and introduce better ways of coding.
