Sedgman Canada Ltd. is currently looking for a Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver, BC. He/she will support structural engineering projects by conducting structural engineering design, overseeing design/drafting work, controlling design activities withing project budgets and schedules, and preparing technical reports.
Sedgman is a consulting engineering company in the mining space and is currently experiencing a rapid expansion in our North American offices; they are positioned for growth, and this role is business critical within the organization.

What does this role involve? Main Responsibilities:
- Perform structural and concrete designs ensuring compliance with relevant codes, industry standards.
- Participate in concept studies, including estimating quantities and preliminary designs
- Perform detailed concrete and steel design, including interaction with Drafters to produce models and documentation in line with quality and project requirements
- Assist with construction enquiries, including safe lifting and erection
- Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, and 3D model reviews, to ensure reliability, maintenance, construction, and safety in design requirements are met for the design
- Interface with other Engineering disciplines, including Electrical, Process and Mechanical
- Focus on technical innovation and continuous improvement
What are we looking for in our future team member? Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in structural engineering
- Will have 7 to 10 years of relevant structural engineering experience
, - Registered member of the Professional Engineering association in BC (EGBC);
- Strong understanding of steel and concrete design for heavy industrial structures.
- Demonstrated sound knowledge and experience in design/consultancy/operational environments
- Previous mining or metals industry experience is highly desired
- Ability to safely and effectively self-manage time, priorities and activities
- Experience with Canadian building code across the provinces is desirable
- Must be eligible to work in Canada without sponsorship
