This is a remote position.

Our biodefense, biomedical, and health sciences client has an exciting opportunity for a President.

Job Summary:
The President will serve as the senior operational and strategic executive, responsible for driving growth, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.

Working in close partnership with the CEO, the President will oversee the day-to-day operations of the company ensuring efficient execution of projects, disciplined financial management, and the successful delivery of technical and scientific solutions for government and commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership
• Partner with the Executives to define and execute the company’s multi-year growth strategy.
• Identify emerging opportunities within biodefense, biomedical, and health sciences markets, and expand service offerings accordingly.
• Strengthen the company’s position within the federal contracting ecosystem, including NIH, DoD, and HHS agencies.
• Drive innovation through strategic partnerships, technology adoption, and service diversification.
2. Operational Excellence
• Oversee daily operations across all business units ensuring contract deliverables are met on time, within scope, and at the highest quality.
• Lead and improve operational performance metrics including on-time delivery, cost control, compliance, and customer satisfaction.
• Champion continuous improvement under ISO 9001:2015 standards and maintain a strong internal quality culture.
• Ensure alignment between scientific teams, operations, and corporate support functions (finance, HR, IT, BD).
3. Business Development & Client Engagement
• Direct business development efforts in government and commercial markets.
• Lead the pursuit of high-value opportunities (IDIQs, task orders, recompetes) and maintain trusted client relationships.
• Oversee proposal strategy, pricing, capture management, and negotiations for federal and defense contracts.
• Represent company in client meetings, industry events, and professional associations to enhance visibility and brand equity.
4. Financial Stewardship
• Manage company financial performance, including P&L accountability, forecasting, and budgeting.
• Ensure effective cost management, contract profitability, and sustainable growth margins.
• Collaborate with the CFO and CEO to develop capital allocation strategies and evaluate investment opportunities.
5. Organizational Leadership & Culture
• Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing leadership team across scientific, operational, and corporate functions.
• Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and professional excellence.
• Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion across all levels of the organization.
• Lead internal communication and change management efforts to maintain engagement and alignment.
6. Governance & Compliance
• Ensure company’s adherence to all regulatory, ethical, and contractual obligations.
• Maintain readiness for audits, client reviews, and federal compliance requirements (FAR, DFARS, DCAA).
• Report regularly to the Board and CEO on business performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.
7. External Representation
• Represent company as a thought leader and advocate within the biodefense, biomedical, and health sciences communities.
• Strengthen relationships with federal agencies, research institutions, and strategic partners.
• Serve as a visible ambassador of the company’s mission, quality standards, and service excellence.

Qualifications
Education
• Master’s or Doctoral degree in Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Biodefense, Life Sciences, or Business related field required.
• MBA or equivalent business management education preferred.
Experience
• 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in biomedical, biodefense, life sciences, or government contracting sectors.
• Proven record of success in managing multi-site scientific operations and complex federal contracts.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and oversee P&L at the enterprise level.
• Experience navigating federal acquisition regulations (FAR/DFARS) and ISO quality management systems.
• Strong history of client relationship development, strategic growth, and proposal leadership.

• Start Date: ASAP
• Full-time (40 hours/week)
• Work Arrangement: Remote or Hybrid (preferably in DMV area)
• Willingness to travel
