You will report directly to the Finance Director, India operations and become part of the Svitzer Regional Finance Team, and your peers and close co-workers are Finance colleagues in our operations covering the AMEA Region.
This role is located in our brand new office in Mumbai, India. We work flexibly, not because there is a policy telling us to, but because it just makes good business and work/life sense and creates an engaging work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- End-to-end finance is responsible for the two legal entities in India, being the main focal point for any internal and external stakeholders.
- Statutory compliances and timely completion of Statutory Audit and act as the primary contact for auditors of the Indian entities.
- Ensure tax compliance, including current and old filings as required. Provide necessary backup, supporting the regional team, Local Tax office, etc. to enable compliance with group procedures/local tax authorities
Monthly Closing By Performing:
- Closing activities such as accruals, payroll journal, prepayment review and Management Reporting in the consolidation system and provide story-driven deviation analysis of the numbers.
- Monitor and review end-to-end accounting of all transactions with support from the local accountant.
- Perform internal controls as control requirements and frequency
- Cash flow optimization by reviewing payment requests mainly for foreign vendors, crew & salary payments on a timely basis, and in general
- monitor the payment cycle periodically to identify the areas of improvement and achieve efficiency in processing & settlement.
- Prepare annual budget with detailed underlying calculations for the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow.
Additional responsibilities as regional controller –
- Completion of Regional reporting in the consolidation system as per the deadline, which includes:
- A monthly and quarterly checklist that covers a comprehensive analysis of the Profit and Loss account, Balance sheet, and cash flow statements for the entire AMEA region
- Preparing a regional memo for deviation analysis against the target and actuals
Related Party Reporting
- Perform key internal controls for the AMEA Region, making sure that all controls are always in an effective state
- Responding to HQ controller queries and liaising with the country finance manager
- Posting recurring regional journal
- Provide guidance and resolve country finance queries to ensure adherence to Svitzer’s accounting and reporting policies.
- A monthly and quarterly checklist that covers a comprehensive analysis of the Profit and Loss account, Balance sheet, and cash flow statements for the entire AMEA region
- Preparing a regional memo for deviation analysis against the target and actuals
Related Party Reporting
- Perform key internal controls for the AMEA Region, making sure that all controls are always in an effective state
- Responding to HQ controller queries and liaising with the country finance manager
Expected Education / Competencies
- Chartered Accountant/ MBA in Finance/ post graduate degree in Accounts/ Finance with minimum 8 years’ experience in Financial Accounting, Reporting & Control.
- Strong financial acumen with knowledge of Indian compliances as per tax and company law. Prior experience with internal or external audit.
- Curious, with a high degree of attention to detail and a high sense of urgency.
- Prior hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics (ERP system) and OneStream (Consolidation system) is seen as an advantage.
- Expert Excel user for developing reconciliations and reviewing/analysis of financial information.
- Articulate in written and spoken English. Excellent communicator who can structure information and communicate a clear message to all relevant stakeholders.
