Job Description
As the Social Media Content Moderation Team Leader, you’ll oversee a global moderation team responsible for maintaining safe, positive community spaces across YouTube, Reddit, Discord, and other platforms. Beyond direct moderation, you’ll manage workforce scheduling to ensure round-the-clock coverage, balance workloads, and quickly address coverage gaps. You’ll act as both a working moderator and a leader, guiding your team to deliver reliable, high-quality moderation while maintaining alignment with client goals.
This role combines leadership, scheduling oversight, and operational excellence with direct involvement in day-to-day moderation work.
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations of the moderation team, ensuring full 24/7 coverage.
- Build and manage rotating schedules, adjusting as needed to cover absences and peak activity times.
- Monitor and moderate comments on YouTube videos during critical upload windows (Monday, Wednesday, Friday at 10 AM Central).
- Proactively review and moderate content across Reddit and Discord communities following established guidelines.
- Identify and remove inappropriate comments, spam, bot activity, and negative content.
- Ensure immediate coverage during new content launches for clean, welcoming comment sections.
- Follow and enforce detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for moderation quality.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to team members to improve consistency and performance.
- Collaborate with the client and internal management to report on performance, escalations, and team issues.
- Cross-train with the team on app support tasks during lower-volume moderation periods.
