We have an exciting opportunity to join Norfolk Virtual School as an Adviser for training and engagement.
In this role, you will be under the direction of the adviser who leads the work for previously in care, children with a social worker and children in kinship care. In response to our statutory and non-statutory duties for these cohorts, this post will work to support the ongoing delivery and development of our trauma and attachment aware practice offer.
You will work with the strategic lead to expand the existing support offer to meet wider demand by upskilling school staff and ensuring settings are trauma- and attachment-aware. This includes understanding attachment theory, recognising the impact of attachment on emotional development and learning, and adopting a trauma and attachment aware whole-school approach to support pupils.
The role involves embedding best practices, capturing impact, and supporting the development of a community of practice within Norfolk. It also provides additional capacity to support schools delivering provision as part of Local First Inclusion and ensures the Virtual School offer remains responsive to need. You will work within a team to plan, promote, deliver and evaluate a range of resources and evidence based interventions. A significant part of the role will be leading the work to develop our pre and post course support to schools and settings who access our training to support implementation, embedding and sustaining changes to practice as well as working to collect evidence of impact.
An integral part of this role will be the requirement to deliver training either virtually or face to face to delegates within schools or our partners within Children’s services. This role will involve travel within Norfolk and can not be performed remotely. The ability to facilitate twilight training events will be a required part of the role.
If you are passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people and working to support understanding and reduce the significant barriers to education that they may face, we would like to hear from you.
Please contact the Strategic Lead for Previously in Care, Children with a Social Worker and Kinship, Harriet Tunnicliff harriet.tunnicliff@norfolk.gov.uk if you would like an informal discussion about this role.
