Systems Engineer in Optical Networks, will be responsible for defining system requirements, analyzing customer needs, and contributing to the architecture of Nokia products. Collaborate with architects, developers, and validation teams to ensure seamless implementation of system features. Troubleshoot technical issues, refine product documentation, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Support product maintenance, customer interactions, and drive improvements in system engineering processes.
This role will work on cutting-edge optical networking technologies. Will engage in feasibility studies, contribute to system design, and provide technical expertise in defining and maintaining system requirements. Work closely with cross-functional teams.
- Define and maintain system requirements, external interface specifications, and business/operational needs.
- Conduct feasibility studies to assess the technical and business impact of new features.
- Work closely with architects, developers, and validation teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
- Provide timely clarification and responses to development teams regarding feature definitions.
- Collaborate with product management and industry experts to develop appropriate technical solutions.
- Act as a technical expert in product maintenance and customer interactions.
- Support the customer documentation team by providing clear and concise technical details.
- Continuously improve system engineering processes and tools to enhance efficiency and innovation.
You Have:
- BE/BTech in Engineering, specializing in telecommunications, networking, or related fields.
- 10+ years of experience in optical networking, focusing on GMPLS, OTN, DWDM, and Ethernet technologies.
- Strong understanding of L2 switching and legacy transmission technologies, including SDH/Sonet, for seamless integration.
- Expertise in network management interfaces such as SNMP, Netconf/Restconf/Yang, CLI, and TL1, with the ability to enhance and adapt existing models.
It would be nice if you also had:
- Hands-on experience with alarm management and performance monitoring processes aligned with ITU-T standards.
- Deep understanding of security best practices across the development lifecycle, from requirement definition to verification.
- Experience using version control tools like Git/Gerrit.
- Strong communication, analytical, and collaboration skills to work effectively in multi-site and multi-cultural teams.
