A Brief Overview

The Director, Connor Whole Health partners with the Vice President to set the overall growth, business, and clinical strategy for UH Connor Whole Health's programs. This position is responsible for translating strategic priorities into operational success across the inpatient and outpatient continuum, ensuring exceptional patient experience, operational efficiency, and clinical quality.The Director oversees program development, service integration, and market positioning while fostering a patient-centered culture. This role works directly with the Connor Whole Health Leadership team and works collaboratively with physicians, advanced practice providers, instructors, and system leaders to achieve performance targets related to patient access, referrals, growth, quality, and financial performance.

What You Will Do
 

  • Strategic Partnership & Program Development   • Partner with the VP to develop and execute the long-term business, clinical, and growth strategy for integrative health and lifestyle medicine services.   • Translate strategic initiatives into measurable operational plans, ensuring timely and effective implementation.   • Identify opportunities for new programs, service enhancements, and partnerships to strengthen market position and expand access.   • Support the integration of evidence-based integrative therapies into clinical care models across UH.
  • Operational Leadership   • Provide strategic and operational oversight of integrative health services through direct leadership of assigned management and supervisory staff responsible for inpatient and outpatient service lines.   • Ensure leaders have the resources, guidance, and accountability to effectively manage staffing, scheduling, process improvement, and resource utilization within their areas.   • Establish and track key performance indicators for patient access, retention, referrals, and clinical outcomes, using data to inform decision-making and drive improvements.   • Promote consistency, operational alignment, and best practice sharing across all service locations.   • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention of clinical, non-clinical and provider staff.   • Oversee clinical research programs and staff.
  • Financial Stewardship   • In collaboration with the VP, establish financial targets, monitor budgets, and ensure cost-effective use of resources.   • Share accountability with the VP for contribution margin and budget performance.   • Analyze market share, growth trends, and financial outcomes relative to competitors, recommending adjustments to improve performance.   • Brand, Marketing & Community Engagement   • Collaborate with marketing teams to execute the UH CWH brand and promotional strategy.   • Represent whole health services at community events, conferences, and institutional development functions, as requested by the VP.   • Build strong relationships with referring providers and community partners to increase awareness and utilization of services.
  • Quality & Patient Experience   • Champion a patient-centric culture, ensuring services meet high standards of safety, quality, and satisfaction.   • Oversee quality improvement initiatives and standardization of care models across service lines.   • Implement evidence-based practices to improve patient outcomes and experience.
  • Collaboration & System Integration   • Work closely with leaders across clinical, educational, and research missions to align integrative health services with organizational priorities.   • Partner with institutional research teams to support studies that advance evidence-based integrative health care.   • Serve as a liaison between integrative health programs and system leadership.

Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree healthcare administration, business, nursing, or related field is required
  • Master's Degree in Business or Healthcare Administration is strong preferred

Work Experience

  • 8+ years progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, preferably in integrative health or specialty service lines (Required)
  • Several years of people management including licensed clinicians (Required)
  • Experience working in operations within a large, complex health system (Required)
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and maintaining teams and engaging a positive work environment (Required)
  • Experience in financial management with proven skills in pro-forma development, cost effectiveness analysis, revenue enhancement and expense management (Required)
  • Experience in assessing market opportunities, developing business plans, and implementing programs to respond to such opportunities. (Required)
  • Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives. (Required)
  • Experience in planning and implementing change in complex operational environments. (Required)

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Healthcare Administration or an MBA is strongly preferred. Previous experience working in Integrative Medicine, lifestyle medicine, or culinary medicine is also preferred. The ideal candidate will have strong skills with presentations, relationship building, and prior experience with donors and philanthropy.
