Become a Safety Coordinator I with Cherokee Nation Entertainment and take an active role in ensuring a safe, healthy, and compliant environment at our site(s). This hands-on, non-supervisory role is centered on managing safety programs, performing inspections, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization. Serve as a key liaison between management, employees, and contractors to promote a proactive and safe working environment.
NOTE: this job is a safety sensitive position subject to drug testing requirements. A positive drug test will result in a job offer being rescinded or, for active employees, termination, even if they test positive for marijuana and have a valid medical marijuana license.
- Ensures safety P&Ps are being followed and that safety/environmental action items are complete.
- Conducts safety/environmental inspections and audits.
- Completes and forwards appropriate requisition or recommendations to the Safety Manager.
- Conducts and reviews incident investigations.
- Provides more intensive reviews when necessary. Identify trends.
- Conducts safety meetings, safety/environmental training to increase proficiency in safe work practices and promote safety awareness.
- Consults with and serve as liaison between management, contractors, and employees to resolve related issues that arise in daily operations.
- Coordinates safety equipment supplies and other details throughout assigned location(s).
- Requires handling of average weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than 4 hours a day. Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment. Work involves considerable exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises.
- No supervisory/management authority.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in related field of study, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must possess a working knowledge of national safety/environmental standards and fire safety programs.
- Must have keen observation and documentation ability.
- Must have the ability to create and present safety classes.
- Must have the ability to communicate safety concepts and procedures to various audiences using verbal, written, and multi-media techniques.
- Must possess the ability to interact positively with employees and management to create a safety partnership and safe working environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain licensing by the appropriate gaming authority.
