We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Lead Hardware Engineer to drive the design, development, and delivery of advanced electronic hardware systems. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in PCB design, strong leadership capabilities, and a proven ability to translate system requirements into robust, high-performance hardware solutions. This role offers the opportunity to lead a cross-functional team, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to the innovation and scalability of cutting-edge hardware products.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities
- Hardware Design & Development: Lead the complete hardware design lifecycle — from concept, schematic design, PCB layout, and prototyping to testing and production. Develop and validate complex multi-layer PCBs, ensuring compliance with performance, reliability, and manufacturability standards.
PCB Design Expertise:
- Drive schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard tools such as Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Mentor Graphics, or OrCAD.
- Optimize PCB designs for signal integrity, power distribution, EMI/EMC performance, and thermal management.
- Collaborate with mechanical, firmware, and system engineers to ensure seamless integration of PCB designs into complete products.
Leadership & Mentorship:
- Lead a team of hardware engineers and provide technical guidance throughout the product development process.
- Review designs, conduct design-for-manufacturing (DFM) and design-for-testability (DFT) assessments, and ensure adherence to best practices.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
Testing & Validation:
- Define test plans, perform board bring-up, debug hardware issues, and validate prototypes.
- Work closely with test and manufacturing teams to ensure hardware reliability and quality through pre-production and mass manufacturing.
Crossfunctional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, and system design teams to ensure holistic product functionality.
- Engage with suppliers and manufacturing partners for component selection, cost optimization, and production support.
Documentation & Compliance:
- Create and maintain detailed hardware design documentation including schematics, layout files, BOMs, and test reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards (CE, UL, RoHS, REACH, etc.).
Key Skills & Competencies
- Core Expertise: PCB Design (multi-layer, high-speed, high-density boards)
- Tools: Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, or equivalent
- Hardware Design Skills: Analog/digital circuit design, power supply design, signal integrity, EMI/EMC control, component selection
- Testing & Debugging: Oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power analyzer, and other diagnostic tools
- Leadership: Team management, design review, mentorship, and stakeholder communication
- Knowledge of Manufacturing Processes: PCB fabrication, assembly, and testing methods
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
- 7–15 years of hands-on experience in PCB design and hardware development
- Proven track record of delivering complex hardware systems from concept to production
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
