About the job:
As a Senior Wireless Protocol Stack Engineer, you will design and develop robust wireless communication protocols for TI's embedded connectivity devices. You will implement and optimize protocols, ensuring high performance, power efficiency, and interoperability. This role involves writing high-quality code for protocol stacks that serve as the foundation for TI's wireless solutions. This position is part of a new team being established at TI India, offering significant technical challenges and growth opportunities.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience in wireless protocol development for embedded systems
- Bachelor's/Master's degree in Electronics/Electrical/Computer Science
Skills Needed:
- Strong expertise in wireless protocol stack development (such as: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, Wi-SUN, Matter, or proprietary RF)
- Proficiency in Embedded C/C++ programming for resource-constrained devices
- Solid understanding of RF fundamentals and wireless communication principles
- Knowledge of wireless standards (such as: IEEE 802.11, IEEE 802.15.4)
- Experience with real-time operating systems
- Familiarity with network packet analysis and protocol debugging tools
- Understanding of embedded security principles for wireless communications
- Experience with power optimization techniques for battery-powered wireless devices
- Proficiency with embedded debugging tools, logic analyzers, and RF test equipment
- Knowledge of software architecture patterns for protocol stacks
- Experience with unit testing and test automation for embedded systems
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Implement and maintain wireless protocol stacks for TI's connectivity platforms
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code for protocol layers
- Ensure compliance with relevant wireless standards and certification requirements
- Optimize protocol implementations for performance, power consumption, and memory footprint
- Develop test cases and validation procedures for protocol features
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to ensure optimal integration with RF transceivers
- Debug and resolve complex protocol issues using specialized tools and equipment
- Participate in code reviews and design discussions
- Conduct interoperability testing with third-party devices and ecosystems
- Contribute to technical documentation and application notes
- Support customers with protocol-related issues and implementation guidance
- Meet delivery timelines and quality metrics for assigned protocol stack components
