Manager Life, Health & Pension
As the Manager Life, Health & Pension on Curaçao, you will lead and oversee all operational activities across our life insurance, health insurance, and pension portfolios. You translate company strategy into actionable departmental plans, ensuring efficient, accurate, and customer-centric service delivery in full regulatory compliance. You drive process improvement, performance, and cross-functional collaboration to support growth and sustainability.
What will you do?
- Strategic Execution: Translate company objectives into clear operational plans and targets, Align initiatives across Life, Health, and Pension with business priorities. Support strategic projects (e.g., digital transformation, product launches, regulatory change).
- Operational Oversight: Manage end-to-end processes: underwriting, policy issuance, renewals, claims, customer service. Monitor KPIs/SLAs, productivity, internal controls, and business continuity.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies; implement improvements and automation. Lead continuous improvement to reduce turnaround times and increase accuracy. Enhance workflows and system utilization with cross-functional teams.
- Customer Experience: Ensure prompt, professional handling of interactions, complaints, and escalations. Oversee member services for pension and health benefits. Champion customer-centric enhancements.
- Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to insurance and pension regulations. Liaise with Audit, Risk, and Legal to address gaps/incidents. Maintain complete process documentation.
- Collaboration & Leadership: Partner closely with Sales, Underwriting, Claims, IT, Finance, and Compliance. Attract, lead, coach, and develop talent; manage staffing and workforce planning. Own annual planning/budgeting and performance reporting (periodic/ad hoc). Foster effective communication of expectations, goals, and results.
- Other: Build and maintain an internal/external stakeholder network. Perform related duties as needed to ensure business continuity.
What makes you the right fit?
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; Master’s degree preferred
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including 5+ years in a managerial role
- Proven leadership and coaching capabilities
- Strong strategic thinking, planning, and performance management skills
- Solid understanding of core business functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations)
- Experience in business finance and budgeting
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Excellent organizational skills and a high degree of accuracy
- Proactive, service-minded attitude and strong team spirit
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in administrative software and MS Office
- Fluency in Dutch and Papiamentu; English and Spanish are strong assets
- Knowledge of the insurance sector is considered an advantage
