About The Role

This twelve-month fixed-term position is located at our Docklands head office. Reporting directly to the Manager, Safety Services Major Capital Delivery, this role is central to the Safety Services team. As a Senior Safety Advisor for Major Capital Delivery, you will play a key role in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of everyone involved in large-scale construction projects. You will also contribute to the implementation of safety strategies, provide mentorship to project managers, and offer expert safety advice across the Major Capital Delivery (MCD) team.

About You:

• Minimum diploma level qualifications in safety, engineering or risk management or equivalent operational or technical experience
• Experience in identification of electrical safety risks or Sewer Transfer experience would be highly regarded
• Demonstrated experience in the application of incident investigation techniques
• Extensive experience in the identification of high risk activities within a construction setting
• Sound judgment and problem solving skills and decision making skills
• Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence and flexibility to travel to different sites
• Ability to pass a Criminal records check and AusCheck

The Security of Critical Infrastructure (SoCI) Act 2018 requires Melbourne Water, as an operator of critical infrastructure, to prepare a Critical Infrastructure Risk Management Program (CIRMP), which has been undertaken and managed by the Security and Emergency Management Team.

Melbourne Water are required to assess roles across Melbourne Water to determine what roles are critical under the Act. All employees working in a role deemed SOCI critical will require additional background checks via AusCheck.  This role is deemed critical, and the preferred applicant will be asked to undertake an AusCheck.
