Lecturer (EF) Rural, Clinical Skills & Simulation- Port Macquarie
- Employment Type: Part - time (3.5 hours a week)
- Duration: Fixed Term contract until 30th June 2026
- Remuneration: $127,947 base pro-rata, plus 17% superannuation, leave loading and clinical loading

UNSW Rural brings world-class medical education to rural and regional Australia, delivering the full 6-year medical course at our rural campuses across several locations. Face-to-face teaching is critical to rural program delivery as students build strong relationships with and benefit from more personal interaction with clinicians and other academics and become a part of the local medical community. UNSW’s program has strongly supported the aims of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) program for over 25-years, delivering excellence in rural medical education and student experience.
Details of the role
UNSW’s Education Focussed (EF) roles enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.
The Lecturer, Rural, Education Focussed, (EF) will contribute to the delivery of high-quality, integrated clinical skills teaching at UNSW Rural, Port Macquarie campus. Teaching across all three phases of the UNSW undergraduate medicine course, this role is part of a multidisciplinary Clinical Skills and Simulation team committed to preparing students for safe, competent, and patient-centred clinical practice through expert knowledge and the utilisation of high-fidelity simulation equipment. This position has an active role in modelling best practice clinical technique, fostering student engagement, and ensuring educational activities are aligned with program requirements and clinical safety standards.
Some Key Skills Required:
- A BMedMD, MBBS (or equivalent medical degree), currency of medical registration in New South Wales with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Experience in clinical teaching, simulation and scenario-based learning equipment, software and task trainers, and small group facilitation in a medical education setting.
- Contribute to the design and delivery of clinical skills and simulation teaching activities across all Phases of the undergraduate medicine program at the campus.
- Face to face teaching and mentoring conducting practical classes and clinical sessions, modelling excellent clinical reasoning and communication.
- Support the development of scenario-based learning resources and simulation cases that reflect current standards in acute and general medical care.
