Position Summary
The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) plays a key role in supporting the organization’s people strategy by delivering HR services across a range of functional areas, including employee relations, training and development, talent acquisition, benefits administration, and onboarding. This role requires a perceptive and empathetic professional who can build strong relationships at all levels of the organization while balancing employee advocacy with business objectives.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
- Partner with management to develop and implement HR programs, policies, and solutions that enhance employee engagement, productivity, and retention while mitigating organizational risk.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, fostering a positive work environment and promoting open communication.
- Provide guidance and interpretation of HR policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance.
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development initiatives to support employee growth and organizational goals.
- Monitor and evaluate training programs to ensure effectiveness and alignment with business needs.
- Contribute to the development of departmental goals, objectives, and systems that support strategic HR initiatives.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including communication, enrollment, eligibility tracking, and annual open enrollment coordination.
- Analyze HR metrics and reports to assess departmental performance and recommend improvements.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS) and generate reports as needed.
- Conduct exit interviews, analyze trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership for continuous improvement.
- Collaborates with Talent Acquisition team to support recruitment efforts, including coordinating interviews, facilitating onboarding, and ensuring a smooth candidate experience for exempt, non-exempt, temporary, and student positions as needed.
- Oversee the performance management process and recommend enhancements as needed.
- Coordinate employee recognition programs to support a culture of appreciation and engagement.
- Process unemployment claims and respond to notices in a timely and accurate manner.
- Ensure compliance with employment eligibility verification (Form I-9) and conduct periodic audits.
- Support and help coordinate employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, short-term disability, and other leave types, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and internal policies.
- Demonstrate a consistently positive and professional demeanor, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment
- Encourage constructive dialogue for the team, even during periods of change or challenge
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and integrity. Uphold confidentiality standards in all communications and decisions, ensuring trust and compliance with organizational policies and legal requirements
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of employee interactions in accordance with HR policy.
Other Significant Job Functions Include:
- Support planning and communication for Social Committee events.
- Prepare HR content for online community groups.
- Assist with Driver Recruiting to organize and execute Driver and Employee Appreciation Week activities.
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance, along with being available in an on-call status
- Comply with company policies and procedures and all applicable laws and regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Requirements
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a generalist or HR business partner role.
- Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, performance management, benefits administration, and employment law.
- Experience supporting or advising managers and employees across various departments or business units.
- Strong documentation skills with a demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant records related to HR processes, employee interactions, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong understanding of federal and state employment laws and regulations, including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, and EEO.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel occasionally to other onsite locations as needed.
Preferred Education / Experience
- PHR, SHRM-CP, or other HR certification strongly preferred.
- Experience in a multi-site or matrixed organization.
- Familiarity with leave of absence administration (FMLA, short-term disability, etc.).
- Previous experience in trucking and logistics/supply chain environments

- Effectively communicates with personnel at all organizational levels, both internal and external, to foster collaboration and drive process improvements
- Strong listening skills to fully understand customer concerns, able to respond with thoughtful solutions, and handle criticism constructively and without emotional reactivity
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
