General Information

One of the main tasks of the Sustainable Products & Advanced Materials (SP&AM) department is the assessment of product carbon footprints (PCF) of the Schaeffler portfolio. In order to calculate PCFs automatically, the digitalization team (CESD) collects, stores and processes product related data. Addressing data quality issues is a special challenge within fully automatized workflows. In order to tackle this issue, the team uses powerful ML/AI tools. One of these tools are GNNs, which are especially important when it comes to product related data that naturally unfolds in graph structures.

A basic requirement for a Bachelor thesis at Schaeffler is proof of enrollment at the time of the thesis. This position is available from April 1, 2026 for a duration of 6 months.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing of literature
  • Creating graph database ontology
  • Collecting relevant product data
  • Setting up working prototype of GNN

Your Qualifications

  • Studies in the field of MINT with focus on computer science or a comparable field
  • Very good communication skills in English (min. B2 level)
  • Proficieny in MS Office programs
  • Familiarity with Python, (Graph)Databases, Tensorflow/Keras
  • Knowledge of machine learning methods is an asset
  • Independent working style
