About The Role

Are you a Legal Assistant looking for a dynamic and exciting new role in a rapidly growing entrepreneurial and community-focused organisation?Ā 

We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Legal Assistant to provide high level administrative support to our Litigation and Insolvency team. You will be an integral part of the team, ensuring that the team has all the support they need to deliver exceptional service to our clients!Ā Please note, we are seeking a career Legal Assistant/Legal Secretary and this role is not suitable for law students or law graduates seeking to practice law.

What you’ll be doingĀ Ā Ā 

What can you expect in your day to day as a Legal Assistant? Well, you can expect to have a challenging and diverse role that will keep you engaged and motivated every day. This will include:Ā 

  • Working collaboratively with solicitors and legal support staff to ensure files are managed effectively.
  • Preparing affidavits, court books, briefs and various legal documentation for litigious and non-litigious matters.
  • Filing of Court documents across various Victorian, Commonwealth and interstate jurisdictions.Ā 
  • Managing electronic discovery (e-discovery) processes, including data collection, review, and production for litigation purposes.
  • Maintaining accuracy of electronic files and client records, including making sure documents are correct filed and easily accessible in NetDocs.Ā 
  • Management of billing and collection process.
  • Calendar management as required.
  • Communication with clients and handling confidential information appropriately.

Requirements

We want to hear from people who have:Ā Ā 

  • 2+ years of experience as a legal assistant or legal secretary, ideally in a litigation role.
  • A strong interest in legal administration, with excellent attention to detail and a professional approach.
  • Excellent communication skills and a demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines.
  • Knowledge of various Victorian and Commonwealth Court portals for filing of documents and management of cases.
  • Proficiency in software applications such as Outlook, Word and Adobe.
  • Experience using Actionstep, NetDocuments and Bundledocs is advantageous but not essential.
