As we continue building the future of insurance, we’re looking for a (Senior) Communications Manager in Munich to help us tell our story inside and out.
In this role, you’ll shape how Allianz Direct is experienced – by our employees and by the outside world. You’ll design and drive communication strategies, create engaging content, and act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders. With a balance of big-picture vision and hands-on execution, you’ll ensure our internal messages inspire and connect, while strengthening our external voice in media and beyond.

What You Do:

  •    Drive internal and external communications in line with our strategy, brand, and values.
  •    Define goals, audiences, key messages, and channels to ensure clarity, consistency, and impact.
  •    Produce high-quality content (internal & external) across formats – newsletters, intranet articles, speeches, press releases, LinkedIn posts, presentations, videos.
  •    Partner with leadership and business units to align messaging and ensure consistent communication.
  •    Report directly to the Head of Communications, acting as a trusted advisor while taking ownership of your areas.
  •    Act as a point of contact for media inquiries and develop strong relationships with journalists and external partners.
  •    Draft press releases, statements, and key messages, proactively telling impactful stories to strengthen the company’s reputation.
  •    Plan and execute internal events such as town halls, leadership meetings, and employee recognition initiatives.
  •    Foster engagement through dialogue, feedback mechanisms, and actionable insights.
  •    Define KPIs, track effectiveness, and provide insights to management to continuously improve communications.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE JOB:

  •    6 - 8 years of experience in corporate communications, with expertise in strategy, media relations, and internal communication
  •    Demonstrated ability to take ownership, make decisions, and advise senior leadership with confidence.
  •    Experience leading projects end-to-end and ideally managing or mentoring a small team.
  •    Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – capable of influencing audiences at all levels.
  •    Fluent in German (native speaker) and English; additional language skills are a plus.
  •    Knowledge of digital channels and emerging communication trends.
  •    Strong project management skills and a hands-on mentality, equally comfortable with strategy and execution.
  •    Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, or related field.

  •    Experience in communications within a complex, medium to large organization, including internal and external channels.
  •    Proven ability to build trusted relationships with senior leaders and act as a strategic advisor.
  •    Recognized for a decisive, solutions-oriented, senior presence.
  •    Ability to balance strategic vision with operational execution.
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams – including the CEO Office, HR, and the leadership team – to align and integrate all communication efforts.
