General Summary

Works under the supervision of the Nurse. The Nursing Assistant’s primary job function is to perform a variety of basic patient care activities in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients. Supports each Strategic Value by providing excellent care to those we serve. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

• High School Diploma or successful completion of an equivalent High School Exam Required
• Completion of an approved nursing assistant program or equivalent experience required

Licensure:

• BLS within 90 days of hire required

JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

1. Performs basic patient care activities.
2. Observes patients and reports unusual conditions and/or reactions to the nurse.
3. Assists with admissions, discharges, and transfers of patients.
4. Answers call lights and responds to patient needs.
5. Maintains patient environment and performs routine cleaning tasks in nursing unit/patient rooms.
6. Documents according to policy.
7. Performs other duties as assigned.
