The Coordinator Base Support is a pivotal role responsible for assisting the Base Manager and Manager Base Performance in managing the day-to-day operational and people-related functions for Qantas Flight Crew across Perth base. This role supports the coordination of base operations to foster a high-performing, engaged, and safety-focused workforce. You will oversee a range of responsibilities including flight crew leave and attendance management, scheduling support, aircrew licensing, award interpretation and coordinating numerous base events.
You’ll also manage administrative processes at both national and base levels, contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, support operational efficiency. The role requires sound judgment and the ability to make effective decisions independently, with limited consultation to the Manager. You will be accountable for generating reports such as flight crew leave, supporting remuneration and scheduling matters, and contributing to people safety and operational issue resolution. This is a dynamic position suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident in supporting sensitive people matters, and is passionate about supporting frontline teams.
To be considered for this role you will have:
- Operational experience in Aircrew Operations ideal or having worked in a complex operational environment
- Demonstrated understanding of current Industrial Relations & commercial issues which impact on resourcing & scheduling
- Understanding of crew Enterprise Agreements and work rules is highly desirable
- Commitment to develop & seek continuous improvement
- Strong interpersonal skills to consult and liaise with key stakeholders
- High level of computer competency and proficiency in Microsoft Suite of products including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, with an ability to learn new technology quickly
- Proven organisational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks with demanding deadlines simultaneously
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Ability to prioritise and meet structured time constraints where work is allocated from multiple managers
- Experience analysing, reviewing and implementing efficient administrative processes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
