Wellness Intern

This comprehensive internship experience will not only help interns develop their clinical skills, but train them on how to apply critical thinking skills to become an effective and successful manager within an assisted living community.

• REQUIREMENTS:
• 1. Must be pursuing or completed a degree in Practical Nursing, Nursing, Geriatric Health Services or other related fields.
• 2. Actively working towards or has an HHA/PCA/CNA certification, preferred.
• 3. Working knowledge of medical and nursing terminology.
• 4. Passion for or interest in working with individuals in assisted living and/or memory care.
• 5. Strong interest in leading, managing, and supervising staff members.
• 6. Eager to learn, take initiative, and be responsible.
• 7. Compassionate, tactful, and resilient in their communication.
• 8. Ability to cope with the stresses related to working with persons who are elderly and/or emotionally upset.
• 9. Strong ability to prioritize and multi-task, and take constructive feedback.
• DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
• 1. Help the Director of Wellness with the day-to-day administrative, resident, and staff services.
• 2. Shadow and observe Resident Care Aids in providing a certain level of care to residents.
• 3. Observe, understand, and participate in the development of the Resident’s Individual Plan of Care, and the supervision of such care.
• 4. Aid in the filing, documentation, and accuracy of resident records, company policies, and regulations.
• 5. Assist in the observational walk-throughs of entire assisted living and reflections units to ensure no issues or concerns needing immediate attention.
• 6. Help optimize resident care by working with the Wellness Department team through analyzing current practices, reviewing alternatives, consultations, etc.
• 7. Analyze resident data and outcomes.
• 8. Assist in the monitoring of procedures for resident Medication Management.
• 9. Observe, learn, and implement the duties of the Director of Wellness, RNs, and LPNs.
