LifeSource is hiring a Staff Accountant to be responsible for performing complex accounting duties related to the month-end and year-end close processes, financial analysis and reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills to prepare and analyze advanced financial report and conduct complex reconciliations under limited supervision. As a key member of the Finance team, this position also ensures the integrity and timeliness of financial data while contributing to continuous process improvements and providing exceptional internal and external customer support.
As a Staff Accountant, you’ll advance our life-saving work by performing the following job duties:
Responsible for executing detailed data entry, following, and maintaining accounting control procedures, ensuring the integrity of the data entered into the accounting software system.
- Complete monthly bank and investments reconciliations for month-end close cycle.
- Prepare, review and record journal entries for payroll, accrued PTO, incentive pay and worked-in-paid-in for month-end close cycle.
- Track fixed assets and prepare monthly depreciation journal entry.
- Oversee and administer expense reimbursement process, ensuring timely submission, accurate review and policy compliance.
- Manage end-to-end payroll data entry and ensure accurate mapping of intercompany codes to support cross-entity financial allocations, compliance, and reporting.
- Conduct advanced analysis and reconciliation of ledger activities and transactions across multiple entities and resolve complex accounting issues.
- Review and make recommendations to improve internal control procedures.
- Prepare schedules and provide technical support for internal and external auditors.
- Recommend or implement changes to accounting systems and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
Partnering with the finance team on maintaining effective working relationships with customers as well as engaging in departmental process improvement and innovation initiatives.
- Enhances vendor relationships by engaging in appropriate problem solving, including identifying methods of increasing services and decreasing costs.
- Produces high-quality processes and procedures documentation that is appropriate for its intended audience and modifies existing documentation for changes, additional features or enhancements.
- Assists manager in the budget process, Medicare cost report, year-end audit and other special projects.
Qualifications
- Requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to 6 years of previous accounting experience with a strong focus on balance sheet management and executing month, quarter, and year-end close.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related fields preferred.
- Familiarity with intercompany transactions and code mapping preferred.
- Payroll-related accounting experience a plus.
- Excellent desktop computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft office, spreadsheet applications and Accounting Software systems and 10 key processing.
- Strong math skills, high level of accuracy, efficiency, attention to detail and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be an organized, self-starter who can operate with minimum supervision, problem-solving and time management skills
Working Conditions
- This is a full-time, exempt position. Standard business hours are between the hours of 0800-1700. Able to work a minimum of 40 hours per week with schedule adjustments to accommodate organizational needs.
- Hybrid on-site in Minneapolis, MN.
Projected offer rate range: $71,000-85,000/yr, based on relevant experience.
