Job Description
This position is located at an on-site customer location in Northern Phoenix / Anthem.
Position Purpose:
- Responsible for supervising field operations and employees on a job site resulting in the safe management,
- transportation, and disposal of hazardous waste materials. Coordinates day-to-day job activities to ensure
- appropriate measures in the removal and disposal of waste in a timely manner. Interacts with the customer keeping them informed of project status and any change orders required.
Primary Duties /Responsibilities:
- Supervise teams in the packing, labeling, manifesting and shipping hazardous waste from the customer(s) site to appropriate disposal facilities.
- Comply and enforce all compliance, health and safety, and PAD procedures in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Recognize and act on opportunities to increase value added services to customers. Maintain professional & courteous communications with internal and external customers on a daily basis.
- Good knowledge and understanding of contract terms and pricing to ensure the project is completed as proposed, or that a contract change order is implemented (if applicable) prior to leaving the job site.
- Knowledge of disposal site capabilities and limitations prior to shipping waste materials to insure efficient disbursement and storage.
- Ensure completion and accuracy of all DOT/EPA and VES-TS regulations and required in submitting paperwork to expedite disposal and hazardous waste materials pertaining to the transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Perform daily inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure safety and integrity of equipment.
- Ensure that DOT requirements such as vehicle weight limits, driver log books, vehicle inspection records, transportation permits, special permits, insurance cards, registration, fuel trip reports, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up-to-date and valid.
Qualifications
Education / Experience / Background:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent work experience required
- 2 to 4 years of hazardous waste experience required
- Supervisory experience preferred
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:
- Strong team player, motivator, mentor, and trainer
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines and simultaneous tasks
- Strong customer service orientation
- Computer proficient in windows, word, excel, and e-mail at a minimum
- Ability to follow through on assignments
- Good knowledge and understanding of basic chemistry and hazards of chemicals
- Strong knowledge of 40 and 49 CFR and frequently used citations
Required Certification / Licenses / Training:
- Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL)
- 40-hour HAZWOPER Training
