What You'Ll Do:
- Support your practice team by setting the standard for high-quality, skilled veterinary care while exemplifying our collaborative culture and delivering an outstanding experience for every pet parent.
- Responsible for implementing the specified policies and procedures, applying synchronized technology, and delivering dependable and appropriate medical care within the given capabilities.
- Perform Sr Veterinary Assistant skills to support practice veterinarians, including assistance with operating medical equipment (like lab, radiology, anesthesia, dental), monitoring sedated patients (non-anesthetic), running blood work and other diagnostic lab tests, and performing functions that require handling animal bodily fluids and tissues
- Demonstrate team support and care for others’ work experiences.
- Understand and follow the practice’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Standards of Care (SOC)
- Review invoices with clients and manage client
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with other team members, keeping veterinarians informed in real time on patient updates (in practice, at referral, and under home care)
- Be proficient using the PIMS and aid others on the team in their use of the technology.
- Act responsibly given the pharmacy holdings of the practice and maintain controlled substance logs.
- Assist practice manager with communicating on inventory needs.
- Clean workspaces after patient or patient lab sample interaction.
- Participation in self-development courses and required compliance training.
- Perform related duties and assignments as directed by management.
- May be required to work weekends, position may require some travel.
What You’Ll Need:
- 5+ years of experience as a Veterinary Assistant in practice.
- Successful completion of an accredited veterinary assistant program is preferred.
- Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service focus.
- Strong ability to connect with clients and demonstrate empathy and compassion.
- Excellent verbal / written communication, observational, and analytical skills.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Job Requirements:
- Standing or walking up to 80% per shift.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Frequently lift up to 70 pounds using an optional team lift.
- Rarely lift greater than 70+ pounds using a team lift.
- Stand, push, pull, carry, squat, and kneel.
