Junior Software Engineer, Quality

The opportunity
We are looking for someone passionate about quality! Would you like to be a part of our international Release Engineering Quality Assurance team? The team is focused on the quality in the latter stages of development for all supported versions of the Unity editor.

As a Software Test Engineer, you will be a part of a team of quality engineers who execute testing activities such as functional, exploratory, regression, usability, user acceptance, compatibility or ad-hoc testing.

Here at Unity, we will help you grow your understanding of software engineering and quality. Within the role, you will also have plenty of opportunities to expand your technical skills and directly affect the quality experience for our users.

What you'll be doing

• Put your hands on cutting-edge Unity engine builds, testing new features through Release Acceptance and Exploratory sessions that push the limits
• Step into the user’s shoes and test real-world scenarios in the Unity module to uncover hidden usability gems and rough edges
• Dig deep into issues — investigate, reproduce, and craft clear, detailed reports that help teams fix problems fast
• Work side by side with Release Managers, QA, and Developers, sharing insights and helping shape a smoother, more reliable Unity experience
• Bring your analytical eye to QA reports and quality discussions, turning data and findings into meaningful improvements

What we're looking for

• Basic understanding of QA processes, testing principles, and issue reporting
• Interest in exploring and testing Unity builds to ensure functionality and quality
• Ability to identify, reproduce, and clearly describe issues
• Familiarity with bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA) or willingness to learn
• Willingness to work closely with developers and QA teams to help deliver high-quality releases
• Enjoy working with an international team and communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken

You might also have

• Some hands-on experience with Unity, game engines, or other interactive 3D software
• Curiosity about how build pipelines, testing, and releases come together behind the scenes
• Some familiarity with version control systems like Git or an interest in learning them
• Comfortable collaborating with an international team
