About The Position
Auger's AI & Semantic Intelligence Team is at the heart of this transformation—developing intelligent, context-aware systems that reason, learn, and act autonomously to improve global supply chains. We are seeking a curious and results-oriented Applied Scientist who is passionate about building the next generation of AI systems at scale. We have more ideas than time to implement, so the proven ability and passion to rapidly prototype and validate concepts is the most important skill for this role.
What You’Ll Do
- Design and scale semantic architectures that model complex relationships across massive, multi-modal data ecosystems.
- Develop LLM-powered reasoning and retrieval pipelines, integrating RAG, semantic embeddings, and agentic decision-making capabilities.
- Build and optimize vector-based search systems for high-dimensional semantic retrieval using ANN algorithms.
- Lead research and experimentation on graph learning, representation learning, and large-scale NLP, with an emphasis on production-grade deployment.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with data, ML, and engineering teams to ship intelligent systems that power Auger’s agentic platform.
What You’Ll Bring
1. Semantic Graph & Knowledge Graph Mastery
- Deep experience designing and scaling semantic/knowledge graphs for complex domains.
- Hands-on proficiency with Neo4j, ArangoDB, or Amazon Neptune and frameworks like DGL, PyTorch Geometric, or NetworkX.
- Advanced skills in ontology design and entity disambiguation.
2. NLP, Generative AI & Embeddings
- Mastery of NLP techniques for entity/relation extraction, summarization, and semantic understanding using transformer models (BERT, GPT, T5).
- Expertise in embedding generation (Sentence-BERT, OpenAI embeddings, or domain-specific models).
- Experience integrating Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) or LLM orchestration into semantic pipelines.
3. Vector Databases & Scalable Search
- Proficiency with Pinecone, Weaviate, Milvus, or FAISS for vector search and retrieval.
- Strong understanding of Approximate Nearest Neighbor (ANN) algorithms and real-time semantic indexing.
4. Advanced AI/ML for Semantic Systems
- Experience with Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architectures, contrastive learning, and few/zero-shot learning.
- Knowledge of multimodal AI—integrating text, images, and structured data into unified graph representations.
5. Research & Experimentation
- Proven ability to conduct original research in NLP, semantic understanding, or graph learning (publications preferred).
- Expertise in evaluation metrics for semantic systems: precision, recall, similarity, graph quality, etc.
- Ability to design and execute benchmarking experiments and evaluate model performance on domain-specific datasets.
