The Data and Artificial Intelligence within the broader Coles Technology Team focuses on building data collection and analytics capabilities to uncover customer, product, and operational insights. Providing data driven support to our users and enabling Coles to be a data driven organisation.

About The Role

For this exciting position within our Data and Artificial Intelligence team, we are seeking an experienced Platform Manager – Transformation to lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of platform transformation programs ensuring alignment to enterprise Data & AI strategy and business outcomes.

Working closely with the Senior Platform Manager – Transformation, your main responsibilities will include the following but not be limited to the below: 

  • Drive the adoption of modern cloud infrastructure, containerisation, microservices, Infrastructure as Code and automation frameworks.
  • Collaborate closely with architecture, security, data governance, and compliance teams to embed standards and controls into the evolving platform.
  • Manage risks, dependencies, and resources proactively to maintain project momentum and delivery quality.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration to accelerate transformation and build organisational capability.
  • Deliver timely reporting and transparent communication on project status, risks, and opportunities to senior leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise costs, improve performance, and enhance scalability within the platform environment.
  • Foster a culture of experimentation, innovation, and accountability within the transformation team.

We are looking for a versatile leader to lead, mentor, and grow a team of platform engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.

You will inspire and motivate cross-functional teams to embrace change and deliver transformational outcomes aligned with enterprise goals whilst acting as a change agent, promoting Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and continuous delivery culture throughout transformation initiatives.

Experience Required

  • Proven years of experience in platform management, IT transformation, or technical program management in data and AI environments.
  • Proven track record delivering complex platform transformation or cloud migration projects.
  • Working experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Snowflake, Databricks), containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation tools (Terraform, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with modern data platform technologies, AI/ML infrastructure, and scalable architecture patterns.
  • Experience in agile methodologies and cross-functional team leadership.
  • Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance requirements in large enterprises.

Commercial Skills And Formal Qualifications

  • Strong project and program management skills with ability to drive delivery in complex environments.
  • Technical expertise in cloud infrastructure, platform automation, and modernisation frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Leadership skills with experience managing technical teams.
  • Relevant certifications in cloud platforms, project management, or transformation methodologies are advantageous.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
