Why This Role Matters:

As a Senior Product Manager for the Messaging APIs, you will be responsible for driving the future of Vonage’s SMS and Messaging products, creating programmable, scalable, and profitable communication APIs across varied industry use cases.

This role involves end-to-end product management for assigned Messaging products, initially focusing on SMS. The Senior Product Manager (SMS) will collaborate with the SMS Product Area lead to define strategy and deliver competitive features that achieve strong business results. This position requires leading a cross-functional team, including engineering, operations, sales, and go-to-market teams, and staying current with technological advancements in the category.

What You’Ll Do:

Market Research & Customer Interface

  • Collaborate closely with the SMS Product Area lead to gain a deep understanding of market trends, business strategy, and the needs of key customer segments.
  • Design and develop useful, usable, and profitable product solutions to achieve financial targets for the global Enterprise SMS business.
  • Work with prospective customers and sales teams on opportunity analysis, proposal development, and bids to address specific customer requirements.
  • Understand the local competitive landscape and devise strategies, processes, and tools to execute and meet customer needs.
  • Lead internal product integrations, including the Messages API (SMS channel), Verify API, and Vonage Contact Center product. 

Product Life Cycle Management

  • Define and justify new products by analyzing potential solutions, including product structures, pricing scenarios, and unique differentiators.
  • Negotiate feature content with various teams, such as development engineering, operations, marketing, and product management peers.
  • Lead critical cross-functional initiatives for product development, launch, and ongoing lifecycle management.
  • Develop or contribute to significant product collateral, including FAQ documentation, user guides, and customer success stories.

Go-to-Market & Revenue Generation Support

  • Develop and implement product-specific go-to-market strategies in collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Business Operations.
  • Work with the SMS Product Area lead to establish partnership strategies with resellers, system integrators, and complementary technology providers.
  • Define optimal product packaging, pricing, and positioning, and collaborate with product marketing on messaging.

What You’Ll Bring

  • Advanced proficiency in the technical aspects of product design, development, and application.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering and executing a product vision in a high-technology setting, preferably within the messaging or CPaaS space.
  • Stellar inbound product management skills (primary focus of the role) with the ability to effectively project manage and execute.
  • Proficiency in outbound product management skills.
  • Data-driven approach coupled with excellent analytical skills.
  • Passion for customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to:
  • Develop solutions for complex technical, process, and end-user application issues.
  • Work across all phases of the software development lifecycle.
  • Lead presentations and conversations with both internal and external customers.
  • Gather client requirements and identify underlying business problems.

What Is Required

  • Computer Science degree or similar technical qualifications
  • 5+ years of Product Management experience
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of API product management. Knowledge of A2P messaging or CPaaS products is a plus.

Bonus

  • Experience with Agile methodologies & tools (e.g. Scaled Agile, Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence and project management tools
  • Technical concepts of APIs and UI design
