The Website Engineering team's mission is to deliver exceptional digital experiences that drive Elastic's growth and customer engagement. We are looking for a front-line Software Engineering Manager to lead our Website Engineering team. You will mentor and develop a team of 6 experienced engineers who are responsible for building and operating the infrastructure, tooling, and applications that power elastic.co. This role requires close coordination with Marketing, Product Marketing, Design, and Localization teams, offering an excellent opportunity to work at the intersection of engineering and business impact. With your team and cross-functional peers, you will establish engineering excellence and operational maturity that matches our Platform Engineering standards.

This is a remote position for eligible candidates located in North America. 

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Recruit and develop exceptionally talented engineers to build a diverse, high-performing team focused on web engineering excellence.
  • Partner with Content Strategy, Product Marketing, and Design teams to deliver seamless digital experiences on elastic.co.
  • Be a "player/mentor" for the team, actively participating in technical discussions about web architecture, performance optimization, and development methodologies.
  • Build roadmaps and lead prioritization; establish structured project management processes for a team transitioning from reactive to strategic work.
  • Implement effective project communication plans and intake processes to eliminate context switching.
  • Foster a culture of engineering excellence, collaborative decision-making, and continuous improvement.
  • Elevate engineering standards, tooling, and processes to match Platform Engineering team capabilities.

What You Bring:

  • 3 or more years' experience leading diverse teams of software engineers as a line manager (people manager).
  • You care deeply about web performance, user experience, and the quality of digital products your team ships.
  • Solid understanding of modern web architectures, content management systems, and web infrastructure.
  • Strong ability to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to accomplish shared business goals.
  • Knowledge of computer science fundamentals and web technologies to guide your team's technical decisions.

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with content management platforms and headless CMS architectures.
  • Familiarity with web performance optimization, SEO, and analytics platforms.
  • Experience working with Marketing and Product Marketing teams on digital campaigns and web initiatives.
  • Background in internationalization, localization, and multi-language web platforms.
  • Experience as a hands-on web engineer with modern JavaScript frameworks and web technologies.

Compensation for this role is in the form of base salary.  This role does not have a variable compensation component.  

The typical starting salary range for new hires in this role is listed below.  In select locations (including Seattle WA, Los Angeles CA, the San Francisco Bay Area CA, and the New York City Metro Area), an alternate range may apply as specified below. 

These ranges represent the lowest to highest salary we reasonably and in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range, and the ranges may be modified in the future.  

An employee's position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.

Elastic believes that employees should have the opportunity to share in the value that we create together for our shareholders. Therefore, in addition to cash compensation, this role is currently eligible to participate in Elastic's stock program.  Our total rewards package also includes a company-matched 401k with dollar-for-dollar matching up to 6% of eligible earnings, along with a range of other benefits offered with a holistic emphasis on employee well-being.

The typical starting salary range for this role is:$135,700$214,700 USDThe typical starting salary range for this role in the select locations listed above is:$163,100$258,100 USD
