Position Summary

The Fields lab works to understand the impact of anemia on brain development and cognitive outcomes in children through patient oriented research. For multiple NIH funded projects, we recruit healthy children and children with anemia of different etiologies to complete complex study visits including laboratory evaluation, cognitive assessments, patient reported outcomes and brain MRIs. We seek a Staff Scientist to aid in data collection, analyses and publication of results.

Designs research protocols. Assists in developing and conducting research projects, including experiment design, data analysis and documentation of experiment results.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Following instructions and discussions with PI, designs research protocols, including developing procedures for the collection, verification, and management of data.
  • Recruits research participants, coordinates study visits and participates in data collection.
  • Solves practical problems related to data collection.
  • Performs complex statistical analysis of data collected, verifies accuracy of data and analyses and writes interpretative reports.
  • Conducts literature searches related to research projects.
  • Prepares and submits research papers for conference presentation and publication.
  • Assists with grant preparation and reporting.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
  • Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.

Salary Range

$48,000.00 - $86,900.00 / AnnuallyThe salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
